Blue mages grind harder?

So after leveling blu to 60, I've come to the conclusion that blue mage absolutely has the longest grind in the game. If you think about it, outside of leveling, in order to be effective you have to:
1. Learn all the spells
2. complete CoP
3. Be an effective healer as well as front line DD.

Just one to grow on.

With all the butt-tanking I did learning my spells, I dunno if I ground harder or if I was ground ON harder....

Blue Mage looks like a very fun job, but it's just too time consuming for me. Learning spells consistently and partying on the side is quite a load.

It's, like any other job in this game, a challenge. It was my first 75, and I think it's more of a 'kick up the arse' that you'd need to get into real endgame activities when you consider other jobs. I wouldn't have sea etc if not for takin' BLU up first, and when you think about learning spells, you also have to think about the jobs that cough up their money for the spells, and not to mention expensive gear that the Blue Mage can't use.

In response to the 'healing and dd' section of the OP, I kinda feel sorry for a party that's healing role is weak enough to have to 'depend' on blue magic to balance it out. Sure, the odd magic fruit is welcome, but shouldn't be a necessity.

It's just one of those jobs that encourages people who have yet to play the job complain how easy it is, and people who have played the job to whine about how hard it is...end of the day, though it's not a give-away 75, it's not the only job with its difficulties, and they certainly don't deserve praise from others on a forum for achieving.

To be an effective ANY mage, you should learn all your spells.

To be wanted at endgame at all these days, CoP completion is a must for any job.

If it has MP and has the words "mage," "scholar," "summoner" or "Paladin" in it, I damn well would HOPE they would know at least a little something about curing people.
