  • Blue Mage stunning potential?

    Just a quick question

When people say mobs become resistant to stun, do they mean the spell or are they refering to the element? (ie black mage or dark knight stun and its dark element)

I am wondering because in a Diablos fight, he builds resistance to the BLM and DRK stun quickly. If it is the element he is resistant to then a blue mage with our plethora of physical/elemental stun spells could take over.

As I recall, Headbutt doesn't have a good success rate on most HNMs.

With respect to enemies that build resistance to Stun, I believe that applies to the spell only (Bahamut, Diablos, etc.). You could certainly try stunning with a Blue Mage, but it's not guaranteed to land, which is why a lot of strategies don't use it.

While not that useful on HNMs, Diabolos in particular seems susceptible to Head Butt when I've gone BLU. As far as resistance, it's not so much Stun the monster is building resistance to as to the thunder element that Stun is based on. Since Head Butt is a physical spell there should be no resistance buildup to it.

Depends on the monster I guess... no idea on Diabolos. but I found Temporal Shift is a more reliable stun than my headbutt

Blue Mage stunning is a very reliable back-up plan. It shouldn't be your only stun in the party or alliance, but it can be a godsend if you're backing up someone else.

I know that Head Butt can work wonders on Diabolos and Omega / Ultima during COP fights.

damn guess i should have read the whole thread first lol. BTW isn't the stun effect on headbutt based on acc of your main hand weapon?

Your sig seems quite familiar; I think I know the Taru on the right.

Not exactly. You've got to have accuracy to land Head Butt at all, of course (otherwise you get the dreaded No Effect message on a miss), but the stun effect itself can fail to trigger, particularly if the target is much higher level than you are (I think this is calculated off of Blue Magic skill, but don't quote me on that as I haven't checked into it in a while).
