    You should read his post because;

    1) It's number 15 on his list and
    2) He mentioned in his next post that you must have missed WC on his list, because it's there.

      Re: let it slide?

Skipping spells is a bad habit to get into. Yes for every job that has spells to learn there are some that just aren't used that often. However, when you skip them now to level, you may have all intentions to get it later (when I hat 75). When you hit 75, you'll put it off until you have X merited. Then until you get Y gear, then you'll wait until Z and so on and so forth because it became a habit.

The short of it is, don't half ass things. Use your whole ass.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

        Re: let it slide?

Chopping up a two paragraph post doesn't make your argument any better or prove that the OP is going to do what he claims.
        Ok, I'll bite.
        1) You can't prove that the OP is lying any more than I can prove he's telling the truth.
        2) Give me a good reason why we shouldn't give the OP the benefit of the doubt and answer his question directly.
        3) Either way, it's rude to suggest the OP is lying and/or lazy when he hasn't given us prior reason to believe so.
That really just proves my point - just don't skip any spells.
Nobody is arguing that your point is wrong. In fact, it's right. But it's irrelevant to the OP because he's aware that he shouldn't skip spells. You're telling him something he already knows, while not answering his question. A helpful post would be to actually give him what he wants to know. Here, I'll take a stab at it.

Spells that will most likely gimp you if you don't have them:
Pollen - The ability to cure yourself is indispensable
Cocoon - Biggest player-usable Defense buff in the game
Head Butt - It does damage, it stuns, it costs relatively little MP and has a low recast
Feather Storm - Great Damage/MP ratio, a primary damage spell. Poisons for far less MP and casting time than Queasyshroom, too.
Healing Breeze - Very efficient Curaga
Sheep Song - Sleep is valuable for handling links, and you get this one before BLM and RDM get theirs
Bludgeon - another prime damage spell
Blastbomb - It binds, see Sheep Song
        Soporific - See Sheep Song
Wild Carrot - Single-target cure that can be used on party members. Incredibly useful, lets you take a load off the healers, something the average DD can't do.
Chaotic Eye - Silence is too important not to have, too.
Pinecone Bomb - See Sheep Song and Soporific.

Spells that are useful and you should also really have, but won't outright cripple your performance or versatility because they don't do something major or their function can be performed by other party members just as adequately:
Sandspin - Inflicts Accuracy Down, which stacks with Blind. Nothing major, but it helps.
Power Attack - useful in the Jungles. Doesn't pack a big punch, but it's a Vermin spell, so it gets a bonus against Mandragoras - just enough to make it decent when you consider how little MP it costs to use.
Sprout Smack - Inflicts Slow for a mere 6 MP, 0.5 second casting time, and 7.25 sec recast time. Using this saves your mages MP and time, since the actual Slow spell costs 15 MP, has a 2 second cast time, and a 20 second recast.
Metallic Body - Stoneskin. Very sucky and inefficient when you first get it, but it gets better later on.
Battle Dance - Inflicts DEX Down, which stacks with Accuracy Down and Blind, and can help NIN tanks. AoE, so strips Blink and Utsusemi from WHM and NIN mobs. Decent Damage/MP ratio and gives DEX+2.
Cursed Sphere - It sucks, but you can pair it with Sound Blast to get Magic Attack Bonus and make your Red Lotus Blades 20% stronger.
Blood Drain - It drains. Pretty weak though. Probably won't use it (it does poor damage and Pollen/Wild Carrot will heal you better) but it's good to have just in case.
Poison Breath - your first breath spell. Sucks when you get it, gets a much better Damage/MP ratio at higher levels.
Sound Blast - INT down. Useful when you have nukers. As a slight bonus, it'll also marginally improve your Red Lotus Blade.
        Digest - See Blood Drain.

The other physical spells not mentioned here are generally inferior to Head Butt, Bludgeon and Feather Storm, so they'll rarely ever see use for actual damage. Same goes for Bomb Toss. They can be used as part of spell combos to get traits though.

        Edit:

My bad. Also, forgot to reply to this.

          Re: let it slide?

Thanked because I'm just looking at /blu for war and that was extreemly helpful with all the what stacks with what information.
