  • Blastbomb, needed?

I'm having some trouble with the Blastbomb spell. Orcish machines are being a pain in the ass to find, let alone get them to use Blastbomb.

I can find the machines in Ghelsba outpost, but I cannot find them in the Fort even though I know there are supposed to be some there.

So, is Blastbomb a vital/semi vital spell for Blu to have? I don't see it listed as needed for any of the JA for Blue. I'd like to have all the spells, however if this is a spell I won't use, let alone trying to find the mobs, I'm not feeling overly inclined to spend alot of time on this.

Also, where are the dang machines? Any tips for finding them and learning this spell?

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

There are actually more machines in the Fort than in the Outpost. I'm not sure why you're having trouble. There are a number of them on the mid-upper level. You can especially find them off to the sides, if you explore all of the various little nooks and crannies.

I've equipped Blastbomb from the moment I could. But I've never actually used it. I just want the +1 STR. It's probably not vital. Someone else could answer that. But if you want a little extra STR, I suppose it's useful.

I used it for the additional STR+ when I had extra slots/points that I wasn't using for anything (extra free STR is never a bad thing for BLU), and as a somewhat decent Bind spell when I needed it. Considering your next reliable Bind spell isn't until 50 (Ice Break), it's good for what it does once you can equip it at level 18. Also, it's ranged, so you have some leeway with how you can cast it; however, it is AoE, so use caution.

There's plenty of Warmachines in Fort if Outpost isn't turning up any, and if you have some high level friends to help out, you could kinda cheat and get it off the WMs in either Davoi or Misareaux Coast (if you have access). Plenty of those bastids there.

Anything with + STR is a definite 'Yes.'

Some spells you can live without, as you will never use them... but this is not one of them.

Good luck learn this spell It was a pain in to earn this spell because it has plenty of special moves, and they may not use Blastbomb frequently, especially when you are trying to learn that spell... (just to mess w/ you)

I don't know what it is, but I've looked everywhere in the Fort and I'm just not seeing them. Maybe there is some little nook or something that I'm missing though. I might go /rng next time for Widescan to find 'em.

Thanks for the replies and now back to the hunt!

The best war machine to learn this from is near the entrance to Y grotto at g-9 in the fort. Zone into fort, go right thru small camp, continue right up a path and you'll make a left turn. Area ahead had 3 lev 1 orcs, some huts on the right and a cave on the left.( yughot grotto straight ahead). The wm shows up in this cave, sometimes you have to wait awhile. The advantage is the ability to zone quickly if you are having trouble. The other cave is at G-6, top of the hill. The orcs are lev 2 here and bats pop often that will annoy you- good luck.

I'm with you Celeal, that spell was a bitch. They have like 4 or 5 moves, blastbomb was a rareity. I never learned it early on, the +str would've been good though. I did learn it recently while in Lufaise Meadows trying to learn refueling... You have 30 mins to kill waiting for that 3-8am window for the bombs to pop, so i was killing some of the EP machines and learned it. I'd say give it a shot at the outpost, if you can't learn it there and you get fed up, no worries. wait until you hit arounf 50 and go learn it out in lufaise meadows, not for the spell, but for the +str.

Blastbomb was by far the worst spell to learn (I'm only 21 so I'm sure a worse one will replace it). The Hubby and I are douing Blu and Cor and we went back to Ghelsba a couple of times before I got it. I think we finally got it by him coming out on his 75.

LOL, wait until you try to learn the range attack sleep from Walking Tree... 15 min per spawn... plenty of special moves. I learned that move from the NM lottery pop in the Jugner Forest

As I haven't had to attempt this spell, I'll only comment on its usefulness:

STR+1 is easily forgettable. However, Bind! Make sure you at least come back to this spell when you can. Mammets come to mind as a perfect reason to have this spell. But any instanced battle where you plan to use BLU could likely make use of this spell.

                          Re: Blastbomb, needed?

Eyes on me was the worst spell to learn Ahriman got more TP move than any other mob. When they do Eyes on Me, you can't block it and it can hit you really hard.

Blastbomb not so much though... Probably one of the easier ones I had

                            Re: Blastbomb, needed?

                            Funny thing...

The only thing harder than finding the warmachines for me was finding time to actually go and hunt them down after getting all this great info.

First it was unexpected BCNM runs, then it was working on the Windurst [S] quests and trying to figure out why some people couldn't progress (needed to check the Maw in Rolanberry [S] for a CS) to camping an NM (new +acc ring with a bigass name is mine!) plus some other stuff that I can't think of.

And let me tell you, backup healing on the War Lynx NM is funky when you're in a fevered daze.

But when I finally DID manage to get to Gheslba, I didn't even make it to the Fort, I ran into a warmachine on the way up, it used Blastbomb and I learned it first try!

Spent the next 30 minutes trying to learn Blood Drain though, lousy bats -.-

Thanks again for all the advice!

And now it's time to learn Claw CycloneCursed Sphere/Poison Breath! Wheeee!

ya them mobs have way too many TP moves. what I did was when my BLU was at lvl 20 I went to the outpost and the 1st mob in that zone I beat him down with Dia to 1-5% HP. and lucky me he finaly used the blastbomb and I learned it on the 1st try/mob.
