  • For a blue mage...

OK, ive always like the blue mage ever since i found it in FFV. So when i heard it was in this game i decided thats what im gonna do. After looking up info on the blue mage there seems to be no direct answer for my questions. (some less relavant than others)

Whats the best race? Everyone just tells me the diffrences between the races, i know those bnut i dont know if strength will help more or more MP will. Since im not an expert in blue mage tactics, i cant say which i would need more

How do i get to bastok? I started in windhurts and noone can seem to give me any help as to how to get where i can get my blue mage class. and puppet master as well, im thinking of making it my sub class.

Are blue mages really worth the hassle to get or are they just another job you can get that isnt really too special?

Thanks to anyone who helps, im still new to the game, ive only had it like a week or so.

That's because there is no "best" race. It's a matter of what you want to be and what you can tolerate looking at day after day. All equipment can make up for stats you're lacking and want to boost up anyway, so it really doesn't matter.

Windurst >> East Sarutabaruta >> Tahrongi Canyon >> Buburimo Peninsula >> Mhaura >> Take the ferry to Selbina >> Valkurm Dunes >> Kon. Highlands >> Southern Gustaberg >> Bastok

The quests for BLU and PUP are in Aht Urghan, not Bastok.

The people I've known who like it say it's fun to play. They didn't mind the time they spent learning the spells.

When I played it the first time (right when Aht Urghan came out before I left *^^*) I thought it was a blast to play! I didn't get frustrated at all trying to find all my spells from mobs, even though I heard others had. I thought it was an incredibly fun experience! The joy you get when you learn those spells, (especially ones where you've been fighting trying to learn it for an hour) is just too great.

When I first started, I subbed /rdm because that was my main (rdm/blm) and I thought it would be a nice mix until I get a better handle on the class. I'm a Mithra, and like Eohmer says, you can be any race you want as long as you enjoy it. Give it a try and don't get frustrated if you don't learn a spell right away. Patience really pays off with this class.

        Good luck!

First off, you will need a Tenshodo Membership to get inside in Lower Jeuno. Then, simply follow this walkthrough.

Welcome to the game. I'd like to point out that you can't unlock extra jobs until level 30. Also like to point out that /PUP is a good sub for the earliest levels of any job, but it's a bad sub job overall after that. But don't let that stop you from playing the job if you want.

Oh, and when in doubt, check these sites:
            Somepage
            FFXIclopedia
            FFXI Atlas
            FFXI AH

And of course the Frequently Asked Questions section of the forum.
