  • How good does a blu/rdm go over?

It seems like every high lvl blu is a blu/nin, actually I dont think ive ever seen anything else, im a blu/rdm since I dont have a nin yet, should I just go for it and get a nin to lvl 30? Or is a blu/rdm a ok combination, and how much better would nin be?

Blu/rdm is probably good for soling up till about 30 when you get access the second single target cure, but in xp its not going to do you anygood unless you want to main heal (half skill in either elemental or enfeebs, not to mention blu has some very powerful spells) and then whm is going to be better. /war, /nin and /thf are probably going to be your main subs. /thf after you learn Chain Affinity or after 60 for CASATA, /war for a bit more DoT from melee or /nin no earlier than 24 for utsusemi and DW. Rdm after 30 is more gear specific than anything if you can get your hands on the /rdm latent stuff /rdm prob would be great

blu/nin is very handy for solo (such as learning new spells), especially after you learn Wild Carrot. The combination of Utsumei: Ichi, Metallic Body (stoneskin) + Cocoon, Head Butt (stun) is very practical for solo situation.

I use BLU/RDM occasionally for fights where I'm the main stunner, mainly for Fast Cast.

BLU/WHM and BLU/RDM are very good when either you or the party would like having the following:

/WHM: Debuff-removal spells, much more base MND for Healing Breeze, Wild Carrot and Death Scissors (strangely enough).
/RDM: Fast Cast trait, some more INT for debuffs and Magic Attacks.

Also, I wouldn't worry about /NIN in EXP situations, because you really won't be doing much damage compared to /THF, /WAR or /DRK. Thus, even I wonder why most BLUs even bother subbing /NIN in EXP for reasons other than Dual Wield and Utsusemi.

First off: MND does not affect Death Scissors. I dunno where you got that. The mod on Death Scissors is STR60%.

Secondly: a BLU can take hate very easily, regardless of sub. You compare it to /THF, /WAR, and /DRK. Well, THF sub will take hate unless they Trick Attack whatever they are SAing, /WAR is only a tanking combo (Attack Bonus, Berserk, Warcry, etc. only affect your sword damage, which, while nothing to ignore, is not nearly as high as spell damage), and /DRK is much like WAR sub, except that Souleater can be used with Blue Magic (I think... I don't have DRK leveled, so I haven't tested this myself). Personally, I went /NIN most of the time throughout the levels. In the earlier levels (30-59), it was partly for Utsusemi, but mostly for the extra stat-boosting offhand weapon and slightly higher DPS. From 60-70 I mainly used /THF. I always had to be careful about taking hate, but it worked. I tried /THF once I was 71 and got Savage Blade, and I kept nearly getting myself killed. From there on, it was /NIN only.

Yeah, I was quite confused on that too, so I said it so someone would point out that it doesn't.
