  • Blue Magic spells and TP..?

    Question;
    _________________________________________________
    Foot Kick (Beasts - Physical)

Deals critical damage. Chance of critical hit varies with TP.
    AGI+1
Lv.1 MP cost 5 Blue Magic Points 2____________________

    Does this mean that..

    1) ..When the hares use this, the chance of it being a critical hit varies with TP..

    ..And/Or..

    2) ..I can make this spell stronger by running around with 300TP?

Some people are talking about Chain Affinity..
    According to FFXIclopedia..

Makes it possible for your next "physical" blue magic spell to be used in a skillchain. Effect varies with TP.
If a physical blue magic spell is cast while the Chain Affinity effect is active, all of the user's TP is consumed.
If a physical blue magic spell is not cast while the Chain Affinity effect is active, no TP is consumed.
    Obtained: Blue Mage Level 40
    Recast Time: 2 minutes
    Duration: 30 seconds
Does stack with both Sneak Attack and Trick Attack.
    ..it does, but in skillchains.

Next question is.. Are the physical- and/or the magical blue magic spells affected by TP, without Chain Affinity?

Maybe this post is pretty screwed up, I'm pretty tired right now, but I hope you understand.

    Thanks in advance, Noir

No, without Chain Affinity holding on to your TP is useless. There's no way to use your TP without losing it.

And yes, you can make Foot Kick more likely to critical with more TP, IF Chain Affinity is being used. Otherwise, the spell operates as if it had 0 TP (which DOES have a certain chance of crit'ing, it's just low.)

Is it just me or is it time for SE to change spell descriptions to specify TP bonus only operates under (Chain Affinity)?

Re: Blue Magic spells and TP..?

I wish they would. It gets annoying seeing my fellow BLUs waste damage output by hoarding TP like a dragon hoards gold. 300% TP does NOTHING for Physical Blue Magic unless Chain Affinity is used prior. It doesn't affect damage in any way, shape, or form otherwise. SE has said it. Testing has proven it. People just need to spread word enough so that BLUs that don't have direct internet access (mainly console users) get this information.

Ignorance is the worst enemy a community can possibly have.

Omg TP does 0 wtf. I am currently a level 20 Blu, and I had no idea that you needed chain affinity for TP to matter with those certain blu magic spells. Thank you so much for this post. Now I can contribute even more to my parties.

It's stated explcitly in the patch notes, but afiak isn't mentioned anywhere in the game, so unless you're like a lot of us here and read everything on the internet, empirical testing is the only way to know. I think it's a stupid design choice to not make that information available within the game, but it's applied to a lot of things that SE has never changed, food being my personal pet peeve.

God yes, please. That would end the discussions/confusion once and for all.
