Re: Where to Solo
I soloed on Ghouls, Wights and Sadflies in Gusgen at 30. Skeletons are super weak to Bludgeon and Head Butt because they deal blunt damage and because Bludgeon is an arcana spell. It's pretty easy to get chain 1 on these. If you time your resting well you can probably do chain 2 before needing to full heal.

Re: Where to Solo
In my experience, if you can find a safe camp where BST type beastmen are, you can kill their pets pretty reliably. They're like normal mobs, but with much less HP, so you can spell nuke them fairly quickly.
Just doing a quick look online, Gigas's Sheep in Lufaise/Misareaux are lvl 34-36, which shouldn't be terribly difficult to kill, and will provide some nice exp.
When in doubt, just type " 's " into a website's mob lookup and find something potentially safe and easy to get to.Last edited by Kholdstare; 11-27-2006, 08:53 AM.

Re: Where to Solo
Party experience is much faster than solo--even if you're a big bad BLU. I've been in my share of crap parties, and what I've been trying is finding parties that I can reasonably assure have the ability to perform:
1) Refuse Blind Invites--good (veteran) leaders do not generally throw blind invites and those who do probably aren't people you want to party with anyway.
2) Before accepting an invite, do "/sea all {Leader's Name}" to check their job and rank. Don't party with players with gimped sub-jobs--they haven't taken the time to make the most of their character, so they do not deserve to be in a party with someone who does.
3) Ask what other party members they have and make sure the combination sounds viable to you--this evaluation is made in conjunction with #4.
4) Ask where the party will be camping if there is more than one possible camp. /sea {Area Brief Name} to determine if there will be plenty of mobs or slim pickin's. Refuse parties in areas that are overcamped--your experience will crawl even if you're puller is (to quite an LS member) Leety McLeeterson. Suggest an alternative camp site (there is generally an alternative site available at every level, but I wouldn't bother with this at level 10-30.
5) Accept the offer and join the party or pass.
6) If your tank is a Ninja, ask if he/she has tools and /check him/her. If he doesn't have tools or he only has Shi-hei, you may wish to opt out right now--crappy NIN tank = BLU tank (i.e. you). While you're checking the tank, make sure his gear is at least top tier (not necessarily HQ) because the tank needs to be heavily invested in good gear to perform well. The NIN's hate control is less important when you have a SATA THF in the party.
7) If the tank is a Paladin, you will need to watch them. If they never cure and only throw Flash, they're probably a bad tank, and your WHM (or you) will eventually pull hate off them--a good Paladin rarely loses hate except to things like spell spam and über-attacks (e.g. throwing Berserk/Last Resort/WS, Slugshot/Barrage, mislaid SATA, etc.).
8) If the experience rate proves too slow, you can always provide a convenient excuse like "LS Needs me" or "I have Dynamis in 15 minutes" or telling the truth which may result in /blists (usually from crappy players anyway) "{I'm sorry.} {Experience Points} {Too Weak} {Thank you} {Goodbye}".
I've never had the stomach to get through step 8, but I have been known to say "20 minutes left" and then go do something else for awhile. I never self-rep into a crappy PT, but since I accepted I give them at least 1 full hour if not a "level for everyone" at low level.
Some camps require settling in, so that first level may provide a significant performance boost if your party is killing slowly but not in danger of mass death.
May people quit a bad party on first-death. If you say "zone" (because you are sure that death is imminent--most experienced players can tell if a mob is too tough relatively quickly by watching whiffs, resists, mana bars, and the mob life bar), and they don't move, you can always zone the mob for them... Put up Shadows, Metallic Body (if availabe) and Cocoon (as if you ever have this little gem off for more than a second) and spam until you get hate then zone. If there's a THF 25+, they should probably do this since they can Flee. If you have to do this, leave the PT once you've saved their hides. If they don't run, death is their own fault.Last edited by Sabaron; 11-27-2006, 09:04 AM.
