Magic Bursting problems

I was trying to MB Bomb Toss and Blastbomb onto a Liquafaction skillchain the other day and for some reason it wasn't working. My timing looked fine, I'd used Burst Affinity but for some reason still no magic burst. I'm 75 blm and rdm and havn't h
ad any problems magic bursting for a long time except on Blue Mage.

Are there any special tricks for bursting blue magic?

the timing is buged, its not like other spells where you can cast anytime during that 1-4 seconds after the SC you have to make it land near the end of the window about 3-4 seconds after the sc

I don't use macros but a /wait 4 would make the spell land like 8 seconds after the sc?

usally when you solo the sc and start casting just after the sc the spells lands somewhere in that 3 to 4 second window after the sc and mbs correct?

The timing seems to be more difficult than normal magic, I'm not sure if that's a bug or if it's intended to work that way. When combined with magical blue magic's longer cast times it does make it difficult. I'm not sure if it's even possible to burst on a SC you are closing without fast cast. (Disclaimer: not 40 yet, so I don't know if there's a difference between someone else's WS/BP > your WS > trying to burst and someone's WS/BP > your CA blue magic > trying to burst. I don't think I have yet succeeded at the former as BLU, though, or seen another BLU succeed at either.)

Oh, and bomb toss is kind of wasteful IMO. Poison breath does about the same damage (plus the poison effect, if the fight doesn't end immediately) for half the MP. Then again, I guess you have to go with the skillchain you can make with the party's available weapons.

Just to make sure: you know about other WS interfering with magic bursts and have already checked to make sure that is not happening, right?

I self SC/MBed ice Brake.. i stoped trying after that point seems more effective just to CASTA death Scissors

and no the timing is not different to how you make the sc you need to land your spell in the last frames of the MB window

The only MB that is great for me is MP Drainkiss lol.

The window seems pretty big to me, just quite a bit later than usual. I haven't really found MBs to be efficient use of MP though except as was mentioned with MP Drainkiss on colibri.

hmm since you are NIN did you ever try to MB Ninjutsu? i ask beacuse of the fast cast time on those spells you can land a MB spilt seconds after the SC. even long spells like flood if you make it land just after the SC you can actally MB a nother spell thats short cast like water I or poison.

i never find to make a BLU spell MB that early to me it just seems in the last frames in the MB window.

I find the burst goes off but no animation is activated... make sure u have damage in ur log and check it there... My macros go in this order: CA> BA> Red Lotus Blade> SA> Jet stream> Bomb Toss. I somtimes have trouble getting too much hate before i finish bomb toss but other wise it works like a charm I'm Blu 48/ thf24 720 tnl

Self-bursting Magical Blue Magic has been tricky for me. Sometimes I can land the MB Bomb Toss/Blastbomb after my self-SC, sometimes I can't, and as far as I can tell, I'm using the same timing for both results. No other WSs are going off to ruin my SC, but sometimes it seems that even though I hit the window the same as the last time I burst, I only end up with a normal cast. It's rather hit or miss, I'm afraid, until I can accurately nail down the timing (which is squirrely at best).

Well I read this some where on alla and im 100% sure about it:
You will not receive the message: Magic Burst a.k.a your magic will not be bursted due to : Partial Magic Resist and not full resist, this happens to BLU only as far as i am concerned.
just wanted to point it out since i didn't see anyone who figured it out so it can be as a reference. gl

i've never have a problem MBing unless i have full resist or macro lagged

I couldnt have said it any better, ya this Macro shown will work...It took me awhile to get the timeing down..But then I realized that CA and BA could be put in 1 Macro and then it was smooth sailing
