A ss of my Lv3 Self Light SkillChain, pretty nice although it dont hit as hard as death scissor pure damage. But sometimes the spell damage + light effect can do as much as death scissor and if there are blm in the pt they could MB which boost even more damage as a PT ^0^
Pls check the SS for the damage.

I may be reading it wrong, but it looks like a WS from JeanRC for 652 damage, a WS from Rhianna for 228 damage, and the skillchain damage for 652.

If 652 was the Light SC damage, then the 652 damage probably came from the closing WS. What were the opening and closing WSes, and what did the opening WS hit for?

Either way, it looks like nice burst numbers. 1304 for the closing WS and Light SC damage alone, before opening WS damage is added in.

Forgive me, as I know less than nothing about Japanese (less than nothing, that's possible now) but -- is that Rhianna scoring a critical hit for 228? I mean.. if it were another WS, it'd be interrupting your SC and you wouldn't have light for 652 (though I guess lag still sucks), but it's definately not a normal melee swing, right? Jump, maybe?

at any rate, impressive damage I'd like to see end-game parses with Blue mages in melee burn parties (like... nin, war, mnk, blu, brd, whm or something). I wouldn't expect Blue mage to come out on top (indeed, I think I would be angry if it did), but I think their numbers would be close enough that everyone appreciates the other things BLU brings to the table.

the 228 was a ice2 spell damage and not critical or ws.
I solo this lv3 light skillchain as a blu 70 all by myself.
What i did was savage blade from sword for start usually hit about 80-250+ then follow by sneak atk +cannon ball spell which create Lv3 light skill chain. The 652 damage was cannon ball spell damage and with 652 light effect skill chain damage.
Also another thing is ice2 cant mb light skill chain. Most probably it was the random nuke

Well, I would think that you could burst off your own chain for even better damage. Would Radiant Breath work, or is the casting time too long on that? Either way, I'd think that bursting would help the damage even more.

and really, even if you can't burst it, I'm sure it'd be fairly useful to make your own light on HNMs and the like...

That's cool though, even if the damage wasn't as good. I bet once you start getting to the point where merits are involved, black mages will be happier to be able to MB a thunder spell rather than fire.

I don't think I knew that any blue magic had level 2 skillchain attributes. Is there another one that might be a better closer for a level 3 skillchain?

Yes i think although i had not reach that level to use it or try yet. But i heard from people that Vertical Cleave is powerful just like death scissor or better i think.
Its modifier is STR_50 and tp0 3.0 which is 1 of the best mod i saw.
Even Death scissor is only STR_60 tp0 1.5.
Vertical cleave can close for lv3 darkness skill chain.
There are another 2 spell which is Ram chargeto close light sc and disseverment to close light.
Total is 2 darkness 2 light sc for blu which is awesome. Only pray that 1 of them do as much or more then death scissor.

Disseverment & Vertical Cleave can open/close darkness. Ram Charge & Cannonball can open/close light.

As far as self skillchaining goes, you can only do light with Savage Blade > Cannonball.
