  • level 40 blues

BLU isn't my first job to 40, actually it's my 6th however of all the jobs I've taken so far this seems to be the hardest one to get invites for. At 40 it seems like there are either no tanks(which can be worked around sometimes) seeking or no healers(can't help out much since the only party heal we have is healing breeze). Even then sometimes I feel like I'm last picked. I know I'm not an xp leech, I play my job as a dd/enfeebler I don't spam blugeon, I manage my hate well, and throw in healing breeze when I know whms are too scared to curaga but party needs heals as a whole.

Next part is issues with skill chains. @ 43 and in the last 5 parties I've only have 1 rdm with refeash and bards are rare. I'm fine with that, I just stick to enfeebling(sandspin , wild oats, headbutt when apropriate, and maybe sprout smack) and saving mp til I build tp to self sc and mb. I can usually go 3-4 self SCs before needing to rest which is pretty good I think. However my problem is that more often then not I have melee interupting my SC. They use their tp in between my sc even though I announce I'm using it and told them prior that I plan on self skill chaining. I've also had to explain what fusion is to many blms(usually red lotus> uppercut/ jet stream and mb blastbomb). I choose fusion because as a whm I know we sometimes like to mb but blm nukes just don't cut it. It's frustraiting. With /thf i can average 450-500 with sc and burst depending on resistances.

Though I've found thfs love us since we can do distortion every 2 minutes and don't miss too often.

Any suggestions or any other greifs?

    Re: level 40 blues

Yeah, I know how that is--NINs sometimes interrupt my self-SC, your 500-damage self-SC gets cut short by a Avalanche Axe, how annoying.

What I do is wait until the melee (that's not part of any other SC) uses his WS, then I break out with mine. Also, having a <call> in a macro works. When I set up my macros, I have chain Affinity and Burst Affinity in one. Then I use a call.

    /ja "Burst Affinity" <me>
    /wait 3
    /ja "Chain Affinity" <me>
    /wait 0
    /p I'm starting a self skillchain! TP: <tp> <scall>

Then I have my Skillchains in another macro.
    Skillchain: Fusion
    /ws "Red Lotus Blade" <t>
    /wait 5
    /ma "Jet Stream" <t>

Of course, any melee that continually interrupts your SC constantly after you do the first macro is a jerk +1.

    Hope that was helpful.

Now, about the 40-ish problem with tanks...
My server has that a lot also. There was one point where I waited two weeks for a pt invite. I don't know....but at 40 there seems to be a lot of job competition. Of course, it's what I've heard. but here is how it goes for me.

    1-10: Solo.
11-20: People pick you up into parties.
    20-25: You'll be waiting a while.
    25-32: You'll be waiting a while.
32-40: People pick you up into parties.
40-55: Good luck here. Form your own parties.
55-75: You'll be asked into parties.

Now, if you're a BRD, WHM, RDM, or SMN, it's a little different.
    1-10: Solo.
    10-75: You'll be spammed for invites. =D

A lot of times you may find its more beneficial to set up an SC with another party member, especially if the spell you're using has its damage modified by TP, for example Mandibular Bite. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you have TP or not, or maybe it affects accuracy and you're using SA so it doesn't matter (unless its a multihit), but in some cases its better damage to just nix the Sword WS altogether and use that TP to buff up your CA spell.

But yeah the times that I do solo SC, it gets interrupted a lot since I don't have a macro for it.

As for the party invites, mine went to shit about the time I hit 40, which is weird since that's when we get the strongest. I think its a mixture of tons of people leveling BLU, and a lot of people not knowing what role BLU really fills yet (which technically is damn near anything other than refresher, though DD is definitely our strong point, we can tank or heal if necessary)

        Re: level 40 blues

I am 46 BLU and sub RDM

I feel your pain on the invites man....and I think the main reason is because on Asura at any given time I can search for level range of 45-47 to see all the level 45-47's in the whole world and the most I have ever seen is 69.

I mean honestly that isn't a lot of people out there for a 3 level range. Maybe half of those are actually partying so then you got what like 5-6 parties out there max in the whole world?

If you can get a WHM...starting your own party is a much better alternative. I really like this party setup, but at this level...you can't be picky:

        PLD/WAR
        RDM/WHM (or BLM sub)
        BLU/RDM (me)
        WHM/SMN
        BLM/WHM
        NIN/WAR

I like having at least 2 provokers and then having a NIN as 2nd provoke so Utsumei can take 2 hits roughly thus reducing healing needed by WHM.

I would even take 2 WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR instead of BLM just for the provoking purpose. THF/WAR is also good for SATA damage that can be done. Fill the last 2 party spots with any of those and I will be happy.

At 46 though, I will be happy just to get an invite

I got my WHM to 20 last night and in Jueno so now I will go back to BLU tonight and see if I can get an invite! Wish me luck!
