  • How do you rate BLU/SAM?

I'm just playing with ideas for my sub job when i finally unlock BLU, and was wondering what your opinions were on BLU/SAM? As i understand it, the general opinion is that it isn't a very good combination. I guess i just thought that, with the TP benefits of a samurai job, many of the BLU spells will be have an increased effectiveness.

    Thanks for any replies.

TP only affects spells when used in conjunction with Chain Affinity.

Overall, it is a poor combo. Very situational I suppose.

Suichi is correct. /SAM is very situational. While Meditate is helpful and Store TP aswell... when you do sub Samurai, you will find that those traits are cut in half due to the sub job being half your main. Now im not saying its a 100% bad choice... im just saying it would situation just like Suichi said before me.

Not to mention, Meditate only gives 60% TP as sub.

i rate it a 3 on a scale of 1-10 because why would you want +60% tp when SATA->xxxx is much better than it? so almost no usability on it :/

BLU/SAM rates right up there with COR/BRD. Not much point to it. You only get minimal extra impact from TP on physical spells even when using Chain Affinity most of the time. In the mean time, you could instead use your TP to self-skillchain with Chain Affinity. Ok, you could do this with Meditate too, but what difference does it make? Chain Affinity's recast timer is long enough to accumulate more than the necessary TP to self-SC.

Sneak Attack from /THF adds much more damage, is usable much more often, nad doesn't require Chain Affinity to be combined with your spells to be effective.
