    Re: BLU evaluation

Yeah, I apologize for my original post.

I've found BLU/THF does work really well.

You play like a THF, but instead of using the sword to hit I used Sickle Slash and that would always do at least 200+. If timed right I can get 2 SA at the beginning (SA while the puller is out pulling). Also I've found I can do

    Red Lotus Blade for 100
Sickle Slash for 200-300 (AVG, sometimes I might get in the upper 300s)
MB Death Ray for 175 (Pluto's Staff equipped)

So I guess I can be satisfied because it all boils down to either 2/3 SA Sickle Slash one fight and SC the next fight.

Sorry for my earliar rant and thanks Icemage for reminding me of subbing THF.

    Double Post Edited:
Also I was wondering, what is more beneficial to a BLU? Scorpion Harness or a Vermy? Just something to think about

      Re: BLU evaluation

The BLU in my PT switched around between the 2. When he got hate and tanks, he use SH+Ohat. When he's just DDing, he use vermy.

        Re: BLU evaluation

I'm level 49 blue mage currently.

I've gone from being the main/only healer in a party as blu/whm to being the main tank as blu/war, to being blu/nin or blu/thf for DD. We really are totally customizable. Our best role seems to be enfeebler+DD as we get some unique enfeebles and great potential for skillchains with chain affinity.

At my level, metallic body still sucks. I'd say it caps out at 30 damage. Period. No scaling.

Much to my surprise, even at level 49 I was able to solo Even Match rock golems in Sanctuary of Zi'Tah trying to learn Ice Break. I soloed several of them, and although it used most of my mp each fight, I barely got hit at all.

No special strategy, the same things that work at most levels:
Buff with cocoon and utusemi ichi. I don't have refueling yet.
Sprout Smack -> Slow the golem
Headbutt every 10 seconds to delay attacks and give utsusemi recast.
Alternate bludgeon and sickle slash for damage.
Used digest or blood saber to heal up if needed.

If I'm worried I'll eat defense food, apply terror touch (atk down) and awful eye (str down) on the mob as well.

        Blu!

          Re: BLU evaluation

At level 12, my Metallic Body just absorbed what should have been around 36 damage (easy prey Orc hitting me for between 5 and 6 points, my stoneskin lasted through six hits and wore off on the seventh). And my Blue Magic skill is at 36.

I would believe that Metallic Body works in regards to Blue Magic skill similar to how Stoneskin works in regards to Enhancing skill. It certainly would not surprise me since it's quite honestly the same spell, only Blue Magic class instead of Enhancing class.
          There will be cake.

            Re: BLU evaluation

I tend to agree that Metallic Body is weaker than either Stoneskin or Diamondhide regardless of level. Even on steelshells, Metallic Body wears off very quickly, but Diamondhide is a royal pain on exp-level trolls, absorbing at least 800ish damage. It really sucks to do SA+Gekko for 0 on those...
