    Re: First to 75?

I didn't intend for this post to start arguments about opinions and all that.
My purpose for this was for people to share the knowledge of the names of those who already made it to 75.

      Re: First to 75?

Who are you people to judge someone's values? Even if someone DID choose this way of life, what the hell does it matter to you? Those persons are in need of challenges, they have the personnal situation that permits them to do so, and they DO benefit the community with their experiences. Heck, if you dont like the fact that they are giving out information about the best subjob/equips/setups, just dont read forums at all.

I personally have a job and cant do this, but hell, i know i would play a lot more if i had the time for it. Keep in mind also that 90% of these people were in static parties, and that they prepared for this as soon as they heard there was a new job coming and asked a few friends to static with them to 75. Its very possible to make 1-75 with very experienced players and a nasty party setup, and gils to have the best equipment, and i bet it wouldnt even need more then 50 hours per week, so plenty of time to sleep too. Hell, its even possible some of these people work and took their vacations for this.

You have absolutely NO idea how and why these people live the life they have, so heck, stop being jealous and live your own life...ffxi is a game everyone enjoys in their own way, if yours doesnt satisfy you, change it, and if you cant, just grow up and learn to live with it. /rant off

Oh, and for the record, some of the BLUs on midgard who reached 75 are on these forums, but want to keep it to themselves so i wont name them

          Re: First to 75?

Look, if you are high level and you sell all your gear etc., and devote your time away from end-game and back into rapid level grind, its very easy to get to seventy+ within a couple weeks.

I for example really DO have that much time on my hands. Even without neglecting my family or my girlfriend, I spend at least 8-10 hours a day in game. Why? Because I play while I work. What does my work entail? Getting paid to sit on my bum and answer questions in AIM (which happens very rarely cause for the most part my staff handles that for me - someting has to be seriously wrong for me to get directly involved).

Really, its not that big a deal. Level grind is easy when you don't have to time out for quests like G1 - G5, AF, RSE, farming for gil for new equipment, etc.

Personally, I say kudos to them. Wish I coulda done it - I just not in a position to do it.

                  Re: First to 75?

I used to play a MUD awhile back (uh... Multi-User Dungeon... a multiplayer game that's just text... still fun as hell) that had a few good ideas that I'm surprised to see haven't been implemented in many other games.
One such idea was as follows. The admin (Implementor) of this MUD didn't like seeing people throw away their lives for any game, including his (yes, hard to believe, but text-based games CAN get addicting). So, anywho, he put in this little bit of code where you get a XP _penalty_ if you played past 40 hours a week. For every 5-10 hours a week past that another XP penalty stacks until you reach 75 hours in one week and you're getting something like a 75% penalty to exp. If you hit 80 hours you were just straight blocked from playing until the week expired (every sunday night was a new week, I think). When the week ended it'd start back at 0 to count how many hours you've played.
Look, I understand it's a matter of personal choice, but if you're going to waste 40+ hours a week on anything, it better teach you something or provide something useful (not necessarily money). Being "goal-oriented" and getting another 10 levels or 50k gil in FFXI doesn't count; goal orientation is learned by living life, FFXI isn't going to teach it to you anywhere near as well as attending school or working does.
For 40+ hours a week, you could learn how to program your own Windows game in C++ or Java in about a month and a half. You could learn from firsthand experience how to repair most problems in a car (assuming you got one to work on for kicks). Hell, you could even *gasp* play a sport or two, or maybe just jog and lift weights. Any of these options are better than wasting life on any video game, FFXI included.
Don't get me wrong, I love FFXI, but I still couldn't play it for more than 20 hours a week even if I was getting paid to do it (and I already got alot of free time and get paid to do nothing, woot woot honorable discharge!). I mean, if you're lacking the desire to do something more worthwhile with your life than play a game, you either have the maturity of a preteen (regardless of physical age) or you really have no ambition or desire to actually live life. Neither option is all that dandy.

EDIT: On the topic of judgement and jelousy (or, as the theme seems to be, judgement steming from jelousy), I find that almost as ludacrous as playing a game for 50-60+ hours a week. I have a real life- a family, 2 kids, weekends where I actually do something... etc. Please tell me why I would be jelous of someone who has become so unhealthy and sedentary that he/she is willing to become essentially physically immoble to play *a game* for more hours a week than some work a full-time job?
It isn't personal judgement to declare that excessive game-playing is a waste of time; just a simple fact. You're right, I can't stop anyone (save my own kids) from playing a game excessively.

                    Re: First to 75?

Its neat when you reach LV75. It opens up alot of doors for a player in game to be able to do certain things. Plus, the feeling of accomplishing a goal is very satisfying and being in league with other heavy hitters boosts one's ego [positively speaking of course.]

I remember seeing 75 BLU's and COR's about 3 weeks ago on my server in Gilgamesh. My HNMLS has a 75 BLU in it [he was also DD'ing against Kirin.] So its cool that people are enjoying the game and really working hard at their jobs in game because its just so much fun for them.

However, I think alot of people tend to forget that we're all just playing "a game." Its not serious, nor should it be taken seriously. I mean, so what if someone gets to 75 within one week of a recent and latest expansion to a game. Who cares? lol People can get things done pretty quickly when they concentrate hard enough. But, I will agree that when you put an enormous effort into one thing, alot of other things in your life will be lacking or suffer. But again, who cares? People are going to do what they want, regardless of popular public opinion. More often than not, when someone else is succeeding at a certain aspect of life and others are not, jealousy starts to flame, so people are quick to nit-pick and point out others flaws so they can bring that successful person back down to their own level. Its really quite funny when you think about that. People want to be successful and when they are not, they belittle themselves to single-minded thinking, and in their own efforts to be successful, end up becoming rather the opposite: a loser. lol

I think its important to not be so negative about things and let people have their room to do what they want. I mean, in the end, its not like you can reach through the computer screen and physically stop people from getting 75 in a quick amount of time lol. So, there's no sense in berating those that do. It only makes you look less of an individual lol.

                    Goodbye everyone.

My only comment/question is this. Who can prove who was first, where is the official SE database that shows us this? Without this, it is all speculation, and assumption. No official proof.

well, i know soldyne had it in 6(?) days.. priron beat them? must be on a different timezone then i am. when anyone did a /sea all blu (which happened many times during my time online) Soldyne was always mentioned as being the highest.

also like someone else said, if someone already has a level 75 job (Soldyne does, ie no G1-5) and forms a static (no lfp, can level very fast), no AF ingame. so when you change camps, check AH for gear you'll need next, dump current to mule for storage/sell...also with static you can get mobs to aquire TPs very quickly. Sure i was able to almost cap my Blue Magic skill (almost always) soloing mobs to get blue magic. but it would have been helpful having friends assist my aquiring of blue magic.

                            a trick i found...

get hps to 25% > switch to HtH or low damage weapon (Lotus Blade) then Dia constantly
Dia: Low damage spell, but spells that inflict damage give mob 10 tps no matter how much/little (initial damage not actual DOT, Dia/Bio but not poison/burn/frost/yada yada). after 8-9 Dias plus your weapon, will net 100 tps and it'll use abilities. if it doesnt do it, hopefully someone esle can/will help.

i'm sure Soldyne and others found tricks like this to quickly speed up thier Blue Magic aquisition... also because of people like him(her?) had to pioneer into the Blue Magic field not knowing which abilities can be learned, or which levels they can (Bomb Toss, thought you'd learn it in the dunes, eh?) despite what people think and call them 'losers' or 'no lifes' ... i have to thank them for the nice wikipedia guide.

with the hours i went thru trying to get Metallic Body, Healing Breeze and such, people like this saved me many more because i knew what to look for. I had thought for certain war machines had no more than 4/5 abilities, (expecially for a level 8 mob) but Blastbomb was on the list despite it not being used, so after waiting and many machines later i found out, yes they had 1 more ability, and Blastbomb was it.

well i guess that's the end of my speech

well im in EST but i tend to stay up till like 6 A.M. when im doing huge LS events or just having fun and priran was infact the first BLU to 75 on valefor and thats because his entire LS just PLed him to 75 basicly and he only had the spells he learned while exping.
