Questions about Blue Mage

Ok Ill try to make this fairly painless for everyone. Im not gonna ask anything thats an easy answer like Can I learn Metallic Body at lvl 4 or something dumb(Btw I did learn it at lvl 5 but couldnt use it till 8 lol)

Anyways Im really wondering what exactly the Blue Magic Skill affects. Does it just affect the power output of the spells or does it also affect the Learning Ability fo the Blue Mage. Also, can it increase the power of say Metalic Body so more Damage can be absorbed. Ive looked through the list and I dont see any other Stonesking Variante except a Party Buff way later on.

Also, about the SP for Blue Mage. Im pretty sure we dont stay at 10 SP forever and only 6 Spell Slots, so Id like to know when and if these increase. Do they take place of Traits and Abilities for the Job and increase somewhere around every 5-10 levels?

I do know we get Traits from combonations of Spells Equiped so no need to touch on that ^_^. But yeah any information on these little bits would be awesome.

Ive really enjoyed Blue mage(After I spend 6 hours learning my first ability that is ><) and plan to make in it my main. Also, any advice on learning Quezyshroom, it seems like a low usage ability and well. . .the poison kills me alot lol, should I just wait a while to get it later as its something that wont have a huge impact on Bluemage?

You get more SP and spell slots at lvl 11, 21 and so on.

Seems Blue Magic helps with spells.

The best example I could give you is at lvl 20 healing breeze does like 60 HP recovery. At lvl 50 it does 122 for me.

I used Quesyshroom for soloing. Especially worms for the DOT effect. Later on you'll get Bludgeon which will be god for awhile

Is that lvl 20 Skill or lvl 20 Job Lvl. But man Quezy's a pain for me to learn Ive only seen it once even after killing about 20 Fungars, letting them all beat me up to near death lol.

Blue magic skill affects the Accuracy of your spells and it does help with strengthening them. As for your metallic body, it is the worst version of stoneskin in the game. As far as I can tell it goes by Blue magic skill X 1.5 = Stoneskin HP. But the spell is really kind of shakey.

Your spell point and magic slot limit increases at level 11 and every 10 levels there after
So.
1-10 = 10 points 6 slots
11-20 = 15 points 8 slots
21-30 = 20 Points 10 slots
31-40 = 25 points 12 slots
Its goes up to
71-75 = 40 points 20 slots

The increase is 2 slots and 5 points at ever interval.


The big reason for queasyshroom (As I barely use it) is for the stat increase -5 hp +5 mp(don’t quote me, I’m at work), and it forms an ability trait I believe.

Also some additional information, you will soon see multiple colors in your set spell’s list. They represent what spells you will have equipted if you were to enter a level capped area.

Im not sure how far ahead you can learn a spell, but Ive learned lvl 18 stuff at lvl 10. I assume you can learn any spell at any leve(Just cant use it till the given level). I havent really tested this theory too much.

Im trying to figure out what a good level to try to learn Healing Breeze from the Dhamals is. I'd like to get it before Im 16 lol.

yeah i think its a 8 lvl cap i was 18 last night in a pt killing pugs they did scerwdiver like 10 times
and i didit get it and in my last fight it did scerwdriver and i lvled up to 19 at that time i did learn it and if you do the math thats a lvl 8 gap but i dont know i think its a lvl 8 gap to learn BLU magic ^_^

yeah iw as having a hell of a time trying to get spells for blu the other day when i finally unlocked it. 5 hours later i only have foot kick >.> (saw battle dance, power attack, blood drain so mainy times) but i'm going to make it my low lvl to lvl up when i'm up and getting ready for work and see how it goes lol. as of now its not going to be my main or anything cause of the pain in the ass time trying to get spells.

I havent been having that hard of a time learning abilities anymore. Dhalmels Healing Breeze sucked to get, especially when they were all E and T to me, but hey as a Blue Mage, I was killing htem Left and Right.

At lvl 15-16 to still be able to take on an E let alone a T, its well worth the time and effort to build it up. Now I just need 2 more lvl 18 spells and I got all the 1-20 spells lol.

But I dunno if it is an 8 lvl gap to learn, I havent really felt like experimenting enough to find out, I just go after my next batch while lvling lol. I have yet to PT once with my Blue Mage. . .but meh I can solo still so until I cant Ill just solo lol.

Also if you notice alot of spells strength are based on TP, I never use my weapon skills unless I absolutly have to anymore, I usually have it capped at 300% and Bludgeon does some sick damage at that time!

TP only affects Blue Magic when used with Chain Affinity.

It has been proven that you can learn a spell, 10 levels above you. I haven’t seen it done any higher. Also your TP has no effect on the damage your spells normally do. All you are doing is denying your party a nice chunk of damage. TP only effects physical spells when used with Chain Afffinity. You don’t get it until level 40. So WS whenever you can before that.

A few answers to questions that may arise about Chain Affinity.

Chain Affinity is activated like any other ability.
You can cast any ‘Magical’ Spell and it wont drop Chain affinity, the reverse for Burst Affinity.
Once you cast Chain Affinity it does drain all of your TP.
Chain Affinity does not need 100% TP to work.
Chain Affinity, allows you to use a ‘Physical’ Spell in a SC. You can open and close with it.
When Using a spell with Chain Affinity, the description text comes into play. I.E. Has a better critical chance with higher TP (Foot Kick) Or; Duration of sleep greater with TP (Pinecone Bomb)
Chain Affinity GREATLY affects your damage output, with decent amount of TP (50%-Higher)

hmm ok I'll take your word for it - it probably just had to do w/resistance then, because when my tp was under 100 some of my pure attack spells did seem like they hit for less. An example Bludgeon went from like 28 damage (was fighting an EM) to 107 damage when i got over 100 tp, I guess these spells can be resisted just like BLM nukes then huh?

well i was playing blu this morning before work and finally have another spell (just can't use it till 12) battle dance. my question is should i try for power attack from the beetles then head over to windy to try and learn from crawlers, bees and mandys? probably would be worth me taken a trip out that way huh lol.
