  • Re: Blue magic learning guide

I've had really good luck learning my spells so far. It took me about 3 hours to get to level 6 and learn 5 spells. Just stab/punch/foot kick something until it gets below 25% health, then unlock and turn your back to it. Keep yourself cured until it uses a tp move, then kill it. So far I've learned all my spells after seeing them less than 10 times.

Sub whm until you get Pollen, then when you're learning things it helps to sub something with Wide Scan to help you find your targets faster. That works well at least for low levels.

I'm at 38 now, and for most of the spells I've gotten, they've been at least
1/3. I did have trouble learning spells at first, but now its not a problem.

I just use Bludgeon a couple times on it (Bludgeon gives massive TP), then
hit it a few times until the mob will only take one more attack to go down.
Then I simply turn around and wait for the attack to be used, while keeping myself
alive with Pollen and Cocoon. Depending on the mob (scorps, trees, antlions, they all hit hard and fast), I might use Sprout Smack, or in some cases Sandspin.

I've always use that strategy, and not counting the mobs that die before
using the ability, I've always gotten at least 1/3. 1/1 is pretty common as well.

So be patient in those early levels, it'll go a lot faster once you get your skills up.

      Hm.

You must be very patient...I tell you that I spent all day yesterday to learn metallic body...and for people hating on metallic body... lol this spell is actually quite useful. Frankly some people are just lucky, they learn spells like that, other must work on it but in the end it's totally worth it.

Something i'd like to have confirmed is when you're going around spell hunting in a party of more than just yourself, and the enemy does the spell.. do you all learn it? Or is this not the case..

Disseverment only can learn form Dagger holder type Aern, THF BLM or BRD only not use by other type
and i recommend THF cuz it's have more HP (longer stay) not waste time on casting or singing and
use Disseverment more often that those other 2 job, Good luck on hunting ^^

Someone needs to compile a Blue Mage Fact/Fiction guide. I've learned that you don't need to recieve experience points to learn a spell.

Suspected Theory: I learn a spell much easier if I:
                    1) Kill the mob myself
                    2) Kill it by HITTING it, not using a BLU spell on it.

just a theory that may be chance but seemingly true as time passes.

The mob can be rated Too Weak to learn it, I'm sure you all know. Casting
magic during the fight doesn't have any effect on the learning rate either. You don't need to be the person to kill the fight, and as long as it doesn't say "You are too far away to gain experience points" you can learn the spell.

You CAN learn the spell even though it gives you the "Unable to see the <t>" message. That is how i got all of my spells so far

That supposed understanding of the rule was a misinterpretation. It's not that you can't learn spells from enemies that are too weak to offer experience anymore. It's that you can't learn spells from enemies that would NEVER be worth experience to kill (as in EXP for the kill, and not an item instead that gives you experience). This mainly means BCNMs, and other quest-related mobs like in the Eco Warrior quests.

Can anybody confirm getting Metallic Body off of the River Crabs in West Sarutabaruta or the River Crabs by the cliffs in East Sarutabaruta?

Over the course of last night and this morning I have went through level 8 and 9 killing nothing but river crabs in those areas trying to get Metallic Body. I am estimateing that I have killed around 30 crabs that used Metallic Body on themselves before I killed them. The 5 other spells I have gotten so far did not take this long at all to get.

I'm frustrated, I still don't have the spell. I'm about to relocate to the other zones listed and try crabs there.

In addition, what happens when you outlevel all the mobs that would give you no peticular to the point where they can't even hit you anymore to build up TP? I have pondered over this being a new Blue Mage because it's almost to the point where these crabs can barely hit me. Do you have to delevel or do you just miss out on getting that spell?
