This is only speculation but if Blue Mage will learn spells by watching monsters preform them, wouldn't Beastmaster work really well for that?

Re: Blue Mage and Beastmaster
That combo worked well in FF5, so it's not out of the question.

Re: Blue Mage and Beastmaster
It all depends. AoE attacks are quickly learned, but the single target ones aren't that much harder. Just find a low level version of the mob, buff up, and whack away at it with a 1 damage weapon. Eventually, it'll use the skill you want to learn on you.All spells obtained!

Yes...that last sentence does certainly raise an eyebrow...makes little sense to me why a BLU would sub DRK.All spells obtained!

Re: Blue Mage and Beastmaster
Actually, I quite liked DRK for BLU Sub. I was discussing it with someone yesterday, because who's to say BLU isn't a melee, with a little bit of abilites, as apposed to more of an ability user, and not so hot with a sword. DRK = more attack, and a little MP boost. *Shrug* XDI Thought it was nice.

Re: Blue Mage and Beastmaster
Um, Blue Mage does NOT have to be hit with a skill to learn it. Its requirements for having to elarn a skill have already been listed by SE.
Learning Blue Magic
- You have to be within a certain level of the mob.
-You have to Gain expirence from the mob.
- You have to survive the fight after the skill is used.
- You have to be in a certain range of the monster when the skill is used.
- The monster must be defeated before the skill is learned.
- Learned Skills must be set before used.
Setting-
- You have a limited amount of set points based on level.
- Setting costs may vary on spell.
- There are level restrictions for setting some blue magic.
- Setting differnt types of Blue Magic will effect your stats.
Casting Blue Magic
- Ther are "Physical" and "Magic" types of Blue Magic
- JA (or JTs) alow the use of Blue Magic in skillchains and Magic Bursts
- Monster Relations are a factor in Blue Magic
- Blue Magic Expends MP, but there are TP based modifers listed in the spell list.
- There is a new Magic Skill type labeled "Blue Magic"
Other Blue Mage info:
Blue Mage has an A- Sword skill (269 at level 75) and a A- Blue Magic skill (270)
Blue Mage seems to weild mid to light armor and Simitar like swords.
Hopefull that should clear things up.
As far as Blue Mage and beast master, it might work, but they would have to defeat the charmed mob after commanding it to sick another mob... so who knows?

Re: Blue Mage and Beastmaster
Just pointing out that Hyrist's information was not available at the time of the original post.
Blu and bst do share an interesting quality in that they give us extra insight into mob mechanics. For example, some of the blue mage's attacks are chance of critical based on TP. Could that be how screwdriver works? Thinking back on it, I don't think I've ever seen a sudden screwdriver death at the near of a fight. It always happens in the middle of a fight, when the mob isn't checking its TP often and would have some extra stored up for a higher crit chance. Little tidbits of information like that will give as a better idea of how to play around and counteract certain mob abilities.
Bst and blu may not necessarily make a good team for learning blue magic, but through them we stand to learn a good deal as a community about blue magic.
