Anyone have any ideas or impressions on what subjobs would be good for Blue Mage?

I'm hoping to go from Red Mage to Blue Mage and use Red Mage as the Sub from there on out.

Maybe Redmage, maybe black mage, probably WHM or SMN though.

Most likely will be WHM. Unless there are some Cure abilities they get ahold of early. They will be expected to help back up cure, as any mage is required to do.

            Re: Subjobs

Don't know but given the wide range of abilities that Blue Magic has had in the past I could see certain possible spells being a benefit to nearly any job. Many of the crabs defensive abilities possibly being useful for PLDs with possiblilites of other monster abilities to work as feesable substitues for provoke, then not to mention offensive abilities that some monsters have.

Seems like the more defining part of what'll form a Blue Mages path is how SE decides to design it, that is pretty much still unknown to us.

I mean since with Blue Magic something like a Monster's version of Berserk will be controlled by not only a timer but MP as well seems to make sense that it could be stronger then a WARs Berserk. Then not to mention some monster abilities add Accuracy also so lot of various possibilities, but what to actually work is what we'll have to wait and see.

              probably.

but I want to try out RDM/BLU b/c I think it'll be a feasible subjob.

Beastmaster and Blue Mage traditionally worked well together. Any thoughts on that?

                  ala Realm & Strago?

that was a good combination, especially if you wanted Strago to have a specific ability.

I'm guessing WHM, like with every other mage job. :\

PLD/BUM for the win. Spike Flail to hold hate, and Scissor Guard and Rhino Guard to reduce damage. Probably just a dream though.

PLDs will still be forced to sub WAR.

                        And if BUMs have MP, they will be forced to sub WHM. WILL. Self Destruct will probably cost you exp too. -_-;

                          Re: Subjobs

Well obviously if Blue Mage is catered to be more of a job to casting, WHM will still probably be the preffered subjob for the most part. If its more of an attacker melee kind of job(scimitars and the sort i bet they use), then WAR sub or THF sub might not be too bad. It really depends, but something tells me they will use WHM sub if they have MP, if they dont but apply something like a bloodpact timer, then it will greatly depend on the melee damage of the Blue Mage.

Can tamed pets attack other PCs? Can you order your pet to attack you? This could help out the BLUM job.

If they did actually design the Blue Mage traditionally -- with the requirement that one has to survive an ability to cast it as a spell -- then they'd need the ability to tank, at least in the short term, and thus /WAR would be seen a lot. Whether that becomes the standard in such a scenario depends on how good they actually are at tanking.
