I have been reading about Final Fantasy XI for three years, but I never read anything very extensive on it, and I was recently picked for the PS2 beta. My first Character will be Taru Taru Black Mage, I was wondering what some viable Subclasses would be. Please list some with benefits and I will be most appreciative.

it's pretty much the general rule for party play that a BLM subs WHM. If you are soloing, you can do whatever you want, and i hear that THF gives you some money bonuses, etc.

By subing another "magic" based job, your magic skills are increased. By being a blm/whm you will have more mp's to cast your spells... so it is a good thing. As a mage you generally won't need high attack power, and your defense isn't going to be the best no matter what. :p Being a blm subing warrior... you would have more hp's and increased attack/def but your magic skills would suffer, same for other melee classes.
I would recommend subing whm (Or perhaps Summoner when you get the ability to be one, they have a bizillion mp's I hear)We each hold a page of history. Some people are good writers, others are not.
