  • Question on INT and MND...

    I heard someone say this:

    INT = How much damage you do to enemies using magic.
    MND = How well you can resist magic from enemies.

    I heard another person say this:

    INT = Black Magic
    MND = White Magic

    Which is right?

    To the void all things return."

    All is right.....int is for blm and higher attack dmg and mnd is for whm and for healing purposes.

    Since i am taru taru i go for int and mnd boosts but if i were any other race i will go for mp boosts.

      They're both right.

      Well, to be exact, MND helps you resist status changes... that could be considered resisting magic...

          Actually, just realized INT is magic defense and resist too, according to some guides.

          When fighting a magic using monster that is totetote+++ and trying to silence it, you will fail often. But cast a successful Burn (int down), chances are you will succeed in silencing it.

          MND affects curing and holy magic only apparently.

            Oh really? Well if you say so... I received my information from www.shadow-dragons.com which seemed like a reliable website for the game...

            They say:
            MND affects White Magic power, determines resistance to abnormal status and determines magic defense
            and INT affects Black magic power.
            It seemed to make sense that one stat is magic defense while the other is magic offense...

            But your saying INT affects magic defense, magic damage and status change defense but MND only affects healing and holy magic? That doesn't seem right but if that's what you're saying...

            Geez, if you're right, I'm not so sure I want to be an elvaan anymore...

              I'm talking about japanese guides and what I tested ingame, not sites made by people who probably are relaying info from elsewhere.

              for some japanese sites that have posted it online
              http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/nyako/status.htm
              http://www1.odn.ne.jp/leeshine/ff/ffetc.html

              People are under the impression that WHM's MND stat ups your magic defense, however WHMs actually have a passive job ability called "Magic Defense Up" which is the same effect as having an extra "Shell" spell casted already.

              Mind affects all WHM's recovery/support magic power and their duration, and status abnormality recovery time.

              Casting a successful status weaken is a battle of intelligence and skill level since one of the patches earlier this year. Your INT and skill vs monster, and monster's level vs your INT.

                Sidetrack a little:
                Int affects elemental WS damage.
                Mnd also increase BST's item healing on pets.
