Not as much about wanting to join parties, just wanting to find a good way to get exp without gimping yourself down to level 19 or whatever. Or soloing for the rest of your life in camps that are now taken by any job.

At level 75 I am happy with anything 10k/hr or above. Less than that seems like a beating. As far as when I am leveling up, well it's hard to be choosy when it's difficult to get invites to begin with. I would stay in any party getting 5k or more for most levels.

God. All I remember in those fuzzy, grey memories of LV54-68 was main healing on BLM. That's pretty much all I was good for.

I even remembering fighting a JP BLU for that camp spot in that Diabolos Zone in Beaucedine (wtf is the name..). I specifically wrote in my seacom that I was camping there for a few hours to solo that gd bomb (or wtfever it was that was 6 months ago lol) and he deliberately came anyway and stole the spawn. So out of spite, I kept sleep/binding the thing for thirty minutes. He cussed at me in /say for a while until he gave up and warped. That was a roflmybbq day!

Then I found the camp over in Vunkerl Inlet or whatever... Gigas. BLM from 68 to 75 in less than four days F T M F WWWWWW!!!

I did mana burns at 75 on some level sycned pts at 60. 5blm 1rdm..... exp was ok... 8k an hour. I don't think manaburns get stellar xp like 10k+ do they?

Vunkurl Inlet can go 10-13k without EXP Band or COR Roll.

I know this thread is a lil old but i'm a new player and interested in how BLMs are doing nowadays. would anyone like to tell me if they've been faring better? I'm toying around with either just lvling it for my RDM sub job (RDM75/BLM37) or taking it as my main. thanks!

On my server, black mages aren't invited to a whole heck of a lot, BUT there are ALOT of BLMs @ 75. Why you ask? They serve a lot of purpose and use. That said, most BLMs tend to be shuffled into the BLM Burn parties where they collectively time-nuke mobs for good xp. At low-levels you will have invites, they will get a bit sparse as you move on, but tbh BLMs never actually went away. They are easily overlooked, and its pretty sad because they have a lot to offer to a party.

Well if it's any reassurance, when I leveled Black Mage as a subjob for my Red Mage a few months back I was able to do it entirely in parties. Granted a fair number of them were in all Black Mage mana burn parties, but the point is that I was able to reach level 37 without having to spend all my time soloing.

I can't say how it is at higher levels though. Honestly though, if you're friendly and can find a good social linkshell it really shouldn't matter what you level, just so long as you have some friends to hang out with along the way. If you enjoy the job, don't let others discourage you from leveling it. The important thing is to have fun.

Nothing has changed since last year. Leveling is still the same. End Game is still the same.

Well, if it's at all reassuring to hear this, I just started up on Carbuncle as well. I'm currently going through the levels with friends, as well as leveling without them every now and again, and as such I regularly make EXP parties at low levels (None of us, as of yet, has hit 30) and I can say with confidence that we'll accept BLMs as a good source of DD in a PT. I can't say I intend for that philosophy to change anytime soon, as I've found a good BLM can easily outdamage a variety of Melee jobs, especially when half of them aren't hitting.

You are correct. Which is unchanged since ToAU was introduced. Rangers are useless at Pudding camps by the way. Situational.

Black Mages could wreck bird camp if they really really wanted to, but imagine all the linking if they failed lol
