        I have a question.

Does Diabolos avoid stepping on the breakable panels? If so, the guy is totally taking advantage of that. Because IIRC, not a single melee hit...

That seems to be the case.

Yea, Diabolos doesnt step on the breakable tiles, even when theyre still up... I guess its the same as those bats in garlaige, even though they fly, they dont fly over holes.

Programming screwup or are mobs afraid of heights?

Well, anyone who's run off a cliff with something chasing them will tell you that mobs fall down too. They don't really "fly", they're just animated a certain distance off teh ground. That's why they're programmed around it, imagine how screwed up the diabolos fight would be if he fell down.

Anyway, Avesta *is* a black mage as well, he's solo'd some impressive BCNMs, Desert Storm and Come Into My Parlor at least are what I remember. But this was pretty good, not quite as impressive as what Avesta does, but still pretty good.

That was Avesta doing Desert Swarm on BLM? Didn't know that.

                  Programming laziness, most likely.

BTW, which world is that BLM in the video from? I came across a BLM75 on Ifrit named "Vol" today...

Wow, I'm not even entirely sure what all he did there, other than keep it on the other side of the fallen tiles, but pretty damn impressive.
Don't most people still do that with a rdm/drk chainstunning?

In a perfect world, things that fly should be able to fly over holes if they wanted to though.

I think the most popular strategy involves some combination of rdm/drks and mnks two houring.

And yeah, it wouldn't have been too great of a stretch for them to program pathnodes over empty space and add a flag to the nodes and to the mob AI so that only things with a flying property could use them, but that would come into play in such a tiny amount of content in the grand scheme. That's assuming I know the first thing about how mobs figure pathing in this game.

That would also confuse mobs that aren't always flying though, like Jormy.

Sure, it would never come up with Jormy, but I'm sure there's at least one place in the game it would.

Now let's see a WHM doing some NM with Banish!

That's technically possible. >.> A whm's enfeebling magic is only 5 points lower than a blm's. So they could kite just as well and possibly survive better due to higher MDB traits and enhancing skill, but of course their damage is much less mp efficient and they don't have manafont. There would be a lot more yag and elixir chugging.
