  • Question about enfeebles and the Element Enfeebles mentinoned in Sticky

I read over Onionsoldier's sticky about the Element Enfeebles Burn, Frost, Shock, Choke, Drown and Rasp which cleared up alot of my questions regarding enfeebles and elements.

But, it brought up a question in my mind.

Do these Elemental Enfeebles disrupt other enfeebles?

    Ex:

Does Burn (fire) overwrite Paralyze (ice)?

I'd try this myself but I don't have access to the game right now.

    Thank you in advance.

Edit: Oh boy, just noticed I posted to Blue mage, rather than Black mage where I meant to.

No, the six elemental enfeebles don't overwrite any other form of enfeeble, and they are not overwritten by any other form of enfeeble. You can have up to three elemental enfeebles, poison, blind, bio or dia, bind, gravity, paralyze, slow, and silence all on one mob.

Well, they interrupt sleep because they're DoT. But that's it.

Heheh don't worry, a mod will move it soon.

About elemental enfs they only affect other elemental enfs, they don't affect debuffs such as paralyze, slow etc.

No, they don't. Though Paralyze is an Ice Element, it can be thought of as netral based, like how the Fast Blade WS is a Light Element but deals neutral damage.

Elemental Enfeebles, Bio and Dia are the only known spells that overwrite each other, except for multiple tiers(e.x., Protect III overwrites Protect)

Unless you count ninjutsu (Paralyze vs. Jubaku, Slow vs. Hojo, Poison vs. Dokumori, Blind vs. Kurayami) or songs (Lullaby vs. Sleep - but *not* Elegy and Slow, which fully stack, as do Poison and Requiem).

Also certain buffs - Bar-elements, Bar-status, En-elements, Spikes - allow only one buff from the category to be active at a time.

And, since this was accidentally posted in blue mage, does anyone know if the same behavior is exhibited by blue magic? How does Sprout Smack interact with Slow and Elegy, or Queasyshroom with Poison? Is the DEX Down effect of Battle Dance cumulative with Rasp, or Wild Oats with Choke? These could be important to BLU in parties with another mage, as well as to other mages in parties with BLU.

Oops, didn't notice it was in the wrong forum. I've moved it to the Black Mage forums where it belongs.

              ---

As far as blue magic goes, it has the same interactions as the spells of the same effect, so Sprout Smack interacts the same way as the Slow spell: it won't overwrite Hojo: Ni, and it won't overwrite Haste.

Err...what? Fast Blade does not have anything to do with the light element in any way, shape, or form. It does physical damage, and its skillchain attribute is Scission (Earth.)

I can say, from soloing worms as RDM/RNG from 18 to 27 relatively recently, that you can have DEX Down (Tremors) and Rasp at the same time. It'd totally suck to have both on, too, if it weren't for Ranged Accuracy beeing tied to AGI. While they're probably both wind-based, the game seems to treat them as separate effects and with different names. I know for a fact, however, that Armor Break and Acid Bolts both give the same effect ("Defense Down") even if they are of different strength, and won't allow them to stack. I guess it's a matter of wether the game treats it as a different effect or not.
