Do you use your elemental enfeebles?

While partying on my BLM in the jungle this past weekend, I noticed something when partying w/ fellow BLMs... they never used their elemental enfeebles. Now, this may be just because I was sticking them on the mob and they felt like they didn't need to cause of me.. but I was noticing that the party took down the monsters I enfeebled a lot faster than the ones that I didn't due to resting MP. The only thing that the other BLMs would do is nuke it as much as they could.

Am I in the wrong by doing the enfeebles? No one commented on me doing them except for the times that I didn't, saying "oh these ones are hard to bring down unlike the other ones we did". I'm wondering if sticking the enfeebles are really worth it in the long run...

on mandragora it really doesn't matter given how easy they are imo. But no those enfeeble are not useless. I usually use only 2 tho
- frost lowers AGI. On mobs with high evasion this will helps melee lands their attack easier
- burn lowers INT. This will boost your nuking damage up a bit.

these dots are also a crucial part of the Excavation duty assault where the main damage comes from stacking up these spells together. Bio2+Choke+shock+burn.

Frost and Burn don't stack. Ice and Fire don't play nice together.

I always use a couple of elemental enfeebles when leveling as BLM. I've noticed that a lot of BLMs don't though, which is depressing. But I don't let that deter me.

Frost and Burn don't stack. Ice and Fire don't play nice together.

I don't use them together. I only pick one depends on how well the melee are landing their hits. sorry if it wasn't clear.

I can do it in this one.

Fire > Ice > Wind > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire

No two adjacent can be active at the same time, so you can have a maximum of 3 applied at any given time:
Burn - Choke - Shock or Frost - Rasp - Drown

As long as they don't 'touch' each other in the elemental wheel, they will stack.

I used my elemental enfeebles extensively on the path to 75 and would recommend other BLMs do the same.

Given the small amount of MP they take to cast compared with the huge MP cost of BLM offensive spells, I would say the "cost" is worth it.

For exp, I usually just do 1 of 2 combos with elemental enfeebles.


Frost+Shock

Frost lowers AGI, letting melees hit. Shock lowers MND, letting enfeebles land. This combo works well for improving accuracy for both melee and mage against those IT++ mobs.



Choke+Burn+Shock

Choke lowers VIT and increases melee damage. Burn lowers INT to increase nuke damage. Shock allows better enfeebles. This combo maximaizes damage overall for those VT's your party have no trouble hitting.




I sometimes do Rasp+Drown+Frost for skill ups, to reduce mob hit rate, damage, and evasion. or just Drown+Bio II if I am tanking those pasky fleas using blazespikes. (0 damage to me, 18 to the stupid flea on each hit they make ^^v)

Yes, please use them, but don't go overboard with them. Cast them if you have the mp and time to spare. If you're running low on mp, save it. If you're building too much hate during fight, save it. If casting your enfeebles makes you miss casting on MB, save it until you can time it better. Generally though, yes, please cast.

Most times I use Choke and Burn, to drop VIT and INT. Depending on mob type and tank, I may use Drown/Frost if NIN tank or Rasp/Frost if PLD tank.

Personally, I always put Frost on, for fast TP gain for the melees, and either Rasp (Nin Tank) or Drown (Pld tank).

Rasp lowers Dex, and thus Acc.
Drown lowers Str, and thus Atk.
Frost lowers Agi, and thus Eva.
