  • Liquid Spikes?

My friend and I were talking about this on MSN today. I pointed out that there is Blaze Spikes (fire), Ice Spikes (Ice), and Shock Spikes (thunder). These have 3/4 of the main Final Fantasy elements. Just as the Ancient Magicks are. Now, I thought about how water is missing.

Think they'll add a Liquid Spikes with this update?

I mean, they have Fire, Thunder, and Ice. Only element missing is water. ^^ Please discuss.

If I ever am turned into a rat, I want one of those wheel thingys.

Keep in mind FFXI's full element list is:

    Fire->Ice->Wind->Earth->Thunder->Water

    Light->Dark

If I recall they cover the wind type shield as being blink, earth type being stoneskin, and water is likely assoicated to the Aquaviel (Water Shield assisting in resistance to spell interruption).

i dont think those would work because like ice is the enemy has spikes of ice and spikes well hurt on contact. fire and lightning have spikes of fire and lightning which burn/shock you. liquid spikes would basically be jumping into a pol of water not the most painful experience. not including belly flops from a high distance

No, and FFXI has 8 elements. Fire, Ice, Wind, Stone, Thunder, Water, Light and Dark.

Think of it this way, Blaze Spikes, Ice Spikes, Blink, Stoneskin, Shock Spikes, Aquaveil. 3 offensive, 3 defensive.

          The way I see it...

          Ofensive spikes:

          Blaze (Fire)
          Ice
          Shock (Thunder)

          Defensive Spikes:

          Stoneskin (Earth)
          Aquaveil (Water)
          Blink (Wind)

I would love seeing Dark and Light though.

Yeah, I know there are 8 elements. Okay, then add those elements also.

            Rock Spikes
            Wind Spikes
            Light Spikes
            Dark Spikes

I figured along the lines of Ancient Magic, Flare, Quake, Flood, Freeze, more. There are no light or dark ancient magicks.

            -----
oooh, I never thought of them along the lines of Offensive and Defensive. I guess that's what I get for not really leveling WHM. O_< Anyway, I guess that is a more logical view. But I'd still like to leavethis open to opinions. ^^

              Re: Liquid Spikes?

The better things to consider is kind of what you just mentioned. What kind of Offensive/Defensive "Spikes" can you think them doing with Light and Dark, also what type of Light and Dark Ancient Magics.

As far as Light goes I could see Ultima eventually being released for that, for dark though....... Meteor???

For the spike effects can make Light cause a blind effect occassionaly to the attacker, and Dark cause like a life tap when the mob hits you with physical attacks. So blood weapon in reverse.

it make sense if you got hurt touching ice, fire and electricity. not sure how you could get hurt touching the ground or water tho. hence, earth spike and water spike.
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Well, keep in mind, there is the Spell water. o_<

Macht, I saw a light type ancient magic already released, though it's not very powerfull. Holy. White Mages get it at 50, which is around the time BLM get their Ancient Magicks. I figured if Ultima was released, it would be a Black Magic spell, to rival the WHM's Holy.

Holy is not an ancient magic.

Ancient magic is defined by have a long casting time, high (read:300+) MP cost, and WEAKENS TO IT'S ELEMENT'S WEAKNESS(Main difference between AM and other magic).

there's a different between you touching the water, and the water hitting you tho. I mean, you don't die getting hit from those nasty water shooting out from the shower. But you sure do if you got hit by tsunami.

Water spells do damage by "smothering/drowning" rather than being an "on impact" thing, I think

It depends. You've done the Shooting Fish BCNM, right? That is IMPACT. ^^

i always though ultima would be like a lvl 4 SC if it was ever added. since light/dark are the level ones he lvl 4 will be all elements or no element at all. hard tio think of blm harnessing that it is the strongest spell is pas ff games
