Just wanted to post how much I love you guys. Tonight's PT, the PLD falls asleep on the keyboard in the middle of an exp chain. All I can say is Kudos to the two BLMs in the party who helped to avert a wipe and managed to get everyone out of the situation. D2 = {impossible to gauge}

For the bored:

So, MNK goes and pull a raptor (We're in Ulegeurand Range) for chain #3 when I notice that the PLD hasn't voked yet. Popped a Cure IV on the poor MNK who's now riding on 150 hp ...

I get hate and then of course everything went down hill from there. MNK vokes off (Crazy kitty) on 500 hp and goes into deep red again. Other RDM pops a Cure IV (Yes this party featured 2 BLMs and 2 RDMs and don't ask why, but we were getting decent exp somehow...) Well, this is going back and forth and the two BLMs are trying to cure as well. Raptor hits ugly hard and too fast and next thing you know, we got two very dead RDMs in the snow...

BLMs get sleep up finally (Bio was on it so there was a bit of problem putting the raptor to sleep) Each one of them raises the RDMs and keep the sleep going. Once MP was recovered enough, we setup a plan to D2 the MNK and sleeping PLD and then have the rest of us to safety. At least a full PT wipe was avoided.

Once bio wore off, sleep him, bind him, gravity, JUST hold it in place, mages run far and rest.

RDM keep watch, re-sleep with ele-seal if possible.

BLM pop their nukes. RDM re-sleep, toss a chainspell barrage of sleeps if needed, in case of resists :p

We were thinking about it. But if you get one hit from paralyga ... then it's game over. Those Raptors are fast, deadly and nasty. Plus they don't play fair. *cries*

Well it's possible to win a fight with only mages even raptors.

Nuke-sleep tatic for blms isn't anything new.

If someone falls asleep (which happens, the way we constantly push people to stay for just a bit more exp), I'm not going to leave them in the lurch. I'll port them to a crag or D2 them. Leaving a player who has fallen asleep there to possibly get aggro and die is just mean.

Maybe if we didn't push people to stay for just a bit more exp then this wouldn't happen so often. And some people fall asleep faster than others. I have a good friend who is practically narcoleptic the way he can fall asleep. He wouldn't be able to give a 30 minute warning.

Bottom line: If someone falls asleep, that's no reason to be an asshole. Hell, D2 him and then kick him from the party if you need to. But don't punish him.

I have a good friend who is practically narcoleptic the way he can fall asleep. He wouldn't be able to give a 30 minute warning.

You're being purposefully obtuse. He drives just fine. The problem is that when he is tired, he will fall asleep within minutes.

You seem to be ignoring the point that there is no justification for killing someone off or even just letting them die becuase they dared to fall asleep during your exp party.

You seem to be ignoring the point of responsible playing. If you are truly that tired that you can just nod off at any moment, what harm is this doing on your body. Are you aware (although very rare!) that people have died thru playing MMORPG too extensively.

Obviously death is the extreme, but there is damage done by continually forcing the body to stay awake when it needs to rest.

The main point I was trying to make is that is is far more efficient to everyones time, that if a PT member is {i'm sleepy} they should announce it and ask the leader what to do about replacement as opposed to falling asleep, nearly wiping the PT and forcing everyone to end up at their homepoints....

I'm sorry, but Aelathir's point is much more reasonable than yours. You advocate killing the guy to exact some kind of punishment because he fell asleep suddenly? Why? If he knew he was going to fall asleep he would've said something, it's not in one's interest to die due to passing out.

Chalk up another vote for obtuse.
