    Why is my Magic Skill still Capped?

    Hello

    Ok, I leveled my BlackMage to 27 last night from 25;
    but I noticed that my Magic Skill is still capped.

    It has been capped for at least 4 levels,
    or at least, that's when I started to notice that I wasn't gaining an Exp
    from my spells.

    I thought maybe it was because I was subbing my level 50 RedMage for level 24 & 25;
    but then last night I subbed my level 20 WhiteMage, and it was still capped.

    As soon as I leveled I would check to see if I could level my magic,
    but it was capped as soon as I leveled.

    Could it be capped because I solo'd level 1-14, 19, and 20?
    Or, is that just the way it is for BlackMages at this level?
    If so, when are you able to level your magic again?

    it was because you had the skill level higher on your red mage. you don't have to recap something that is already capped from another job.

      So because my RedMage is level 50, I wont be able to level my magic skill for some quite some time now?

        You won't have to, because it's already capped. When you BLM higher, it will eventually uncap and you'll be able to gain skill in it again.

        This is a good thing for you, don't worry.^^ Having capped skills is good.

          Let's say you kept Elemental Magic capped as you leveled RDM (since you're not saying which Magic skill you're talking about, I'm using that as the example). The cap for a 50 RDM on Elemental Magic is 142. The cap for a 27 BLM on Elemental Magic is 84.

          If you did in fact keep it capped, you won't need to worry about skill ups again until BLM47, where the cap for Elemental goes up to 144.

          You're not losing anything here. Your skills are at whatever you leveled them to on RDM. They're all capped to your current job's limits while you're on that job. Switch back to RDM and they'll be at whatever level you got them to.

            Oh, ok
            Thank you, I was worried I was loosing Magic Exp with my BlackMage.

                Magic exp is what makes little baby spells (Fire) grow into big spells (Fire IV). All you high-level blms don't appreciate all the levelling your magic has to do to keep up with you!

                  I know what magic skill is, silly. I was asking about magic exp!

                  Unless...oh, nvm. I read that the wrong way. It's exp for magic spells! I wonder if they have to group like we do?
