Soloing as a Mid-Level BLM??

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this. I'm level 54 right now and am sick of standing around trying to find or make a party, because there's just not enough people around.

First off, at this level is it possible to be efficient enough to kill mobs on your own, that are say 2-3 levels above you. I know the method - sleep, burn, nuke, stun/sleep, rinse & repeat - but so far as I can see the magic at my level just isn't powerful enough. Maybe it's because I'm Elvaan and my base INT is lower than my base MND..

Second, if I was to attempt this, where would I go and which mobs would I fight? I asked someone about this before and they suggested I try Goblin's Leeches in Gustav Tunnel, but that's entirely too risky IMO. I've also thought of worms, though again I'm a bit unsure on the proper location.

I solo'd 52-54 in Upper Delkfutt's Tower on Gigas Bats. They fall pretty easy with a simple Freeze. I was constantly getting chain #4 & 5 for decent EXP with ring on. It was pretty risky, but I enjoyed the excitement. I've been thinking about doing more solo EXP on pets. You may want to try it while LFP. Try it once. If you don't like it, don't try again.

I tried sleep-nuking for EXP, but damn... It just takes too long.

Burn deals damage over time and will prevent you from Sleeping.

Beastman pets are the best to solo xp on. Unfortunately, it took me a while to figure out, but I did get a decent chunk of xp at bibiki around the mid to late 60s. Also helped to fill in the last bit of xp if a pt disbanded early or what not.
If you're fighting Beastman pets, you probably only need <4-5 nukes. My strategy was Gravity to pull, Nuke, Nuke, Bind, Nuke, (maybe a small tier 1 nuke or a drain to get the last bit of hp off), dead
My main problem was lack of mp (you go through a lot of mp) and bad pathing... the pet would sometimes run away from me for a second and into the view of the goblin

At level 54+ you can try forming manaburn parties. BRD BLM BLM BLM BLM + 1 other defensive mage of your choice (usually a RDM, SMN, or WHM, though Corsair is also viable).

Failing that, well.. I guess you can use Ancient Magic to solo for a few levels. Just make sure to pick the right spell for the enemies you fight - for instance, you'd probably get better results with Tornado in the example given above of Gigas Bats, despite the boost in Elemental skill given by an Ice Staff on Freeze.

It is difficult to solo at that lvl. If your magic powers are not maxed I would say dont even try it. Manaburn parties are the way to go, try to find some other blms with the same problem and then form a manaburn party and watch the xp soar. Also you could take up a craft of something to do while your ! is above your head to kill the monotony.

Your best choice is to manaburn, not solo at that level. Once you hit 60 though, you can solo off gobs in bibiki bay.

I dunno.. I never had this problem before. Seems like a lot of people are busy playing the new jobs and doing Besieged & Assault instead of levelling. Eventually it should balance out again, I hope.

Yeah, ___'s pets are the easiest to solo. Problem is, thereare none of these aroundme level(61) >.>
