    Re: Blm can't fight Colibri?

I'm putting money down that you get a /tell saying to get a real sub before you find a party that thinks its a good idea.

Get into PT first with blm/whm xD before you change to /nin
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

LOL. Don't say anything either. Wait until the first time they see you cast Utsusemi.

Brodrik, is that a widely accepted method to get around it, or is it something just your ls does?

            Re: Blm can't fight Colibri?

Subbing ninja is widely accepted for a few uses:
Black mage soloing (like in Sea)
            Jailer of Fortitude
            General HNM business

It's not usually popular for parties because you lose the capacity to cure in an emergency, though usually when I'm a black mage in a well-balanced party, I make essentially no use of that capacity. It's often maligned in HNM, too, because it encourages black mages to pull hate more readily. (Post 74, with Utsusemi: Ni, you can survive a pretty long time without getting hit. :p)

I've never seen parties seriously target Colibri, so I haven't seen Blm sub /Nin for that in particular, no, nor do I regularly see them sub /Nin for xp parties. It is, however, used by black mages elsewhere in similar (and other) situations.

(I guess I'm not exactly sure what your question was, but subbing Ninja on black mages is widely accepted for JoF. With Reflect, there are few other safe ways of damaging him. Meleeing him is possible but very unpleasant.)

I hit 75 by soloing these for about the last 1k I needed. I never noticed anything like this. o.O

Luck may vary, but, their reflect like an additional affect on a weapon (i.e., Dainslaif Additinal Effect: Drain). It dosn't always activate but, when it does, watch out.
In the moonlight, your face it glows.. like a thousand diamonds, I suppose.
And your hair flows like.. The ocean breeze...
Not a million fights could make me hate you, you’re invincible.
                Yeah, It’s true.
It’s in your eyes, where I find peace.

Just to note on the "morsel steal" or whatever the food theft thing is that the tucans have, last time we ptd there with a nin tank he simply didnt eat food. I know this is an aborant thing for most people but honestly it didnt have, at least didnt seem to have, and adverse effect on the pt on the whole. I will be taking my pld when it is of the appropriate lvl out there and seeing how that works without food as well, cause yeah loosin any food to these things would really suck.

Brodrik is right a BLM/NIN has been known as acceptable solo method also it has found usefulness in Dynamis on occasion.

Colibri are a pain in general, their ability to "reflect" spells, Morsel Steal to take your food effect, and Feather Tickle to reduce your TP. If you want to exp on Colibri, stick to the Lessers.

Ya when my friend and I were duo'ing them, it ate my Melon Pie +1. So that was the end of food except for some cookies/chocolate when I rested for MP. It just wasn't worth 4k gil + a battle. LOL

I haven't tested it personally, but I hear that casting Silence on the Colibiri prevents it from mimicing spells.

When fighting a Colibri, eat a Two-Leaf Mandragora Bud (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/4824)

Let him have that morsel to snack on

If you're a Galka, you can eat some Raw meat that'll help lower its Intelligence.

Can't really find anything else that also doesn't add to attack as well.
