my blm is only lvl 14 and im gimped when i do brenner or anything else i have to use my lvl 30 whm for...but i was wondering if i should get it to 20+ so i will know warp and some more spells but what is a good lvl to stop lvling blm and keep lvling my other jobs??

37 makes the most sense, if you ever intend to take RDM or WHM to 75. Otherwise, just 17 for Warp if that's all you ever intend to use it for.
Really though? I'd suggest just taking it to 37 now so that you don't have to come back later if/when you realize that you need a few more levels on it. This way you can just get it done in one stretch.^^

how high you planning to take your whm to?
I say 19 or 20 is a good point to stop. So if later you want to come back to blm, you don't have to go to the dunes anymore. Can easily seek PT in Jeuno and Qufim.There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

I would take BLM to 20, and (eventually) WHM to 40 for the warp/teleport combo. Take BLM up to (insertlevelescapeislearnedathere); it'll be useful when you want to get to the Havlung Staging Point. It's definitely better than running through that volcano.Haggai

Well really it all depends what you want to do in game. Level 17 will get you warp which is useful in many situations. Level 29 will get you escape, another handy thing to have. Level 40 is nice for bcnms like Worm's Turn and you'll get warp II. And of course, at higher level blm is useful in some missions/endgame.
Personally, I'd get it to at least 20 so you can level whm to 40 (teleports/warp, very useful), and might as well push those extra 3 levels to get blm out of the dunes for good.

If you are leveling SMN main, you technically never need to level BLM once you've unlocked it. Just go WHM/SMN when you level your sub it gives more MP anyway. Don't bother to take it to 40 if you're SMN main also, you can just be the kiter in Under Observation, I'd reccomend just going to 17 for warp.
