I was just wondering what are some advantages to being a black mage, whats is a good sub and would there be any bonus to becoming one

Moved thread to the black mage forum. There's subjob discussion in the sticky at the top, but /whm is generally considered to be best. As far as "bonus" goes, no. You don't get anything special for being a blm other than simply to be a black mage.

I'm gonna leave the tread open in case anyone want to give their general impressions and advice to you, but most of your questions can be answered by reading the other threads in this forum.

being a BLM is one of the funnest things this game has to offer (dont turn it down till you tried it )

one of the most Advantages is the abillitie to kill anthing at higher lvls and the abbilitie to never be partieless.

there are some great spells that only BLM may get that even a WHM needs to make a living (Warp). I personaly prefer RDM as a sub, which is reat fro the tarutaru classes but you shouldnt use them if you are going fro galaka or elv races.

You'll want both RDM and WHM subs for Blm. For solo and duoing, RDM easily is a better subjob than WHM. It gives more INT, Phalanx, Gravity and Fast Cast, all of which help while soloing.

For some things you'll want /WHM for acess to Erase, every status removal spell besides Stona (I think, don't quote me on that). WHM is more of a sub I use for things like when we're doing LS events in sky so I don't have to deal with Byakko's paralyze and those pots AoE grav.

I'd reccomend them both, but try them out and see which you like better. A few of the Blms in my LS dislike subbing WHM, some dislike RDM, and some like both. Both can work for almost anything in the game, however one will be situationally better then the other.

For the "bonuses" you asked about, each NQ elemental staff gives +10% damage to spells of that element, while HQs give +15%. You'll want them all as soon as you can, however priority is usually, Ice, Dark, Thunder, whatever else. Light staff helps, but is by no means expected of a Blm. I hope this helps.^^

BLM is uber boring in exp parties, however, very fun to solo(with enough hMP gear).

Warp is great, warp II requests while in parties not so great.

Advantages:
- Doing nice damage without being on the frontlines
- Generally faster party invites
- Useful for quite a lot of things in game
- Fun soloing
- Burning stuff that's unlucky enough to come in your range

Disadvantages:
- Low defence means you get killed pretty easily
- Not that great for farming
- There tend to be lots of black mages levelling (depends on your server though)

But really, all that matters is whether or not you like the job. Go on and try black mage to see if it's the job for you.

Actually, a lot of THFs I know will THF burn in Lufaise Meadows.

They spam Dancing Edge, and get pretty fast XP.

But then again.....you can burn most anything in Lufaise on those damn things.

Healburn = Banishburn, which works.

Dispel/Songburn wouldn't be needed, since both rdm and brd can easily get into most of the other types of burn parties. There's a burn party for every job, not every skill.

Knife/Gun/Spear/Gswd = TP-burn, which works. This is the most fun type of burn party I've ever been in.
