Is this a good option or no? I'm reading the noob guide, but curious on this... I'll look in the noob guide... but since you're already here, what level do you have to be to get a sub level...

Level 18 for the subjob quest. Get a high level player to help you and do it in Buburimu peninsula if possible, the drop rates are better there I think (I've helped several people.)

WHM is probably the best overall subjob for BLM.

No, I don't believe so, you'll have to start a new character. Its not as bad as it sounds though. Having had the experience of doing it once, makes it a lot easier when you do it again.

ok, there are 2 places where you can do your sub job quest

Selbina and Mhaura.
Selbina means Valkurm Dunes and Mhaura Buburimu peninsula.
It`s a bit of luck getting the Items, you best have some help from another player.
getting my sub job quest was the first time i asked for some help

for sub job, blm common sub jobs are, whm, smn, rdm
whm has the most useful spells available , smn has the most int and mp bonus and rdm has some nice rdm only spells and faster spellcasting.

if thas my way, i would do..
BLM till 18 -> sub job quest
BLM till 20 -> chocobo quest in jeuno
WHM/BLM till 40 (for some level 40 capped events)
BLM/WHM 75

I can't remember of the place I started at, I just know it was like tartuatu or something like that (the little people's home village)

So when you name off those places I hardly know at all waht you're talking about.

As for leveling up, I'd agree, I made it to a level 6 redmage in like 3 times as long as it took me to reach black. I'm still a low level, but just trying to level up quickly so I can play with my level 14 friend and his other buddy at like 15... I should make it into double digits before considering playing with them I assume.

I hear that /SMN is really underated as a sub for BLM. I'm quite new but it seems to me that the extra INT and MP you get is well worth it.

If you sub WHM it is only really any good for soloing, any decent PT you join will have a strong healer meaning you won't need to heal or debuff. BLM should concentrate on what they do best which is causing carnage.

Well, I'd prefer any BLM in my party has a WHM or RDM sub so he has access to heals in case something goes terribly wrong. SMN will help with INT and MP, definitely, but it limits a BLM in functionality.

sure..good point but when you're only lvl20 blm like me my sub only has access to weak cures! >< Its no doubt more useful when you open up Cure II, Raise etc etc.
I quite like adventuring so the thought of tracking down all those summons and preparing for the battles sounds quite good fun..plus you don't see many blm/sum in my neck of the woods...always nice to be different...

Yes, but at level 20 BLM you have access to Cure, Poisona and Paralyna, which are nothing to sneeze at (true, probably not imperative, but useful), and at 22 you'll gain access to Cure 2, which is definitely useful. SMN really only gives you an MP and INT boost, which you can easily achieve via gear and food.

BLM/SMN only at level 50/25+, and only when circumstances warrant it (manaburn parties). It's not a good general-use subjob at all. For that, use /WHM or /RDM, depending on what support spells you need.

For Damage Dealing BLM, /SMN is by far the best choice. However, BLMs, though they deal lots of damage, are rarely called on to be 100% DDs. For this reason, it is usually best to sub /RDM, or /WHM if the monster you are fighting smappsstatus.
