I've caped out Dark Magic skill and i still got like 3 hp from drain and on my new char my drain is geting like 1 hp its a blm is that why....my friend is a hl drk and he can do alot more than me but his Dark magic isnt capped and is near mine i find this weird
and i seem to drain more when i have whm main and blm sub
one more thing my blm on cerberus is like more magicly stronger than my taru is that bad or am i useing my magic better by keeping it capped
ALSO.......how is the best way to keep dark magic capped because at low levels i have trobles leveling it up just useing blind and other stuff like that...

lol, Blind is not dark magic, it's enfeebling...

best way to level dark magic is by casting bio, drain and aspir.

as for your numbers, drain will only report the HP you get, not the actual damage it may do. If your HP is full, it will report that you drained 0 HP, but in actuallity, it did much more on the mob. if you are really curious about your actual numbers, drop your HP down to yellow then use drain.

neighbortaru covered most of it, but I would also add in that certain mobs resist dark magic heavily. That could be a factor, as could your gear.

And yes, blind is enfeebling... best way to level Dark Magic is to use bio if your party will let you. If they want Dia, then just throw out a Drain and an Aspir every battle. If this still doesn't keep it up, you might consider having a small skill up party and spamming bio. I was able to raise Dark Magic by 120+ skill levels very fast in just a few skill up/ coffer key parties on my Red Mage by doing this.

could i just get my blm and skill up on orcs in Fort Ghelsba or could being able to kill them like lower the skill up

if you're a blm, train it in exp party is ok. a few bio a battle isn't too much of an MP. unless your party isn't holding too well against the mob.

lol the way i do it is like Gwynn said is get a skill up party and spam bio,drain and aspir

i raise it form 115-140 in 3 hours just with some people in this party, becuase higher lvl ppls dont have problems killing (unless the likly massive link) it helps all your skills at the same time lol win/win on my half, just try to keep it high enough cuase fighting crabs in exp helps with a good aspir to keep your mp up

Also if you get to 45 it becomes easier once you get stun.

Find an elemental that's even or tough if your Enfeeble is fairly high, easy or decent if it's low. Sleep it. Sleep II is better. Spam Aspir, Stun, Blind, Paralyze, Slow, and Silence. When it wakes up put it to sleep again. If you're running out of MP you can zone or just keep it asleep while you rest.

You can cap Dark and Enfeeble fairly quickly like that every few levels and don't have to worry about doing it in exp PT.
