I spent like alot of money buying drinks and potions, etc. I go into BCNM, freeze, sleep, flare, hes dead. So now all the crap I bought I have to sell it back on the AH

This is common for BLM G5. It's an incredibly easy fight.

hehe if maat just happens to stun your ancient spells, you can lose or if you're panic.
My girlfriend lost her first fight too. But by her nature she's very over excited, easily panic and get scared at things. you get the idea. She asked me to try it for her and only took me 1 try and less than 3 minutes.
Over all I still say this is one of the easiest G5.

blm maat fight can be the easiest and hardest. The reason for this is because of the nature of maat. If he hits you with a stun or one of your spells is resisted or you simply have crappy luck you are jacked. I have seen him beaten easily and I have heard of people that spent months trying to beat him. He can be really easy. I just depends on how prepared you are. It actually took me two fights. But, my first time my macros were messed up. They were time conflictions with them. Needless to say he and I didn't quite get along well.

THere is one gauranteed way to beat him.

Use a reraise before you go after him. AM -> Stun -> Sleep --> AM let him get his spell off. It will more than likely kill you.

Then revive. Manafont -> AM

He is usually dead here. If not drop a II spell and he is out for the count.

Seriously? Huh...bad strategy, or just bad luck, I suppose.

Personally, I had absolutely no trouble with BLM G5.

FREEZE -> ES+SLEEP II -> Manafont -> FLARE -> STUN -> WATERGA III -> win

i won on my third try

first time, he decided to be a bitch and come at me with his fists, first thing was freeze, then Sleep2 without ES as i wanted to save for the next sleep, well that was a bad move, sleep2 didnt land, he came at me and punched me silly couldnt cast anything cause he kept interrupting, i died flat out at 50% ish

second time i just messed up, manafont wasnt up and i even waited for it to be active again, but i dunno what it was maybe lack of attention to what i was doing.. after some chattery and LS messing around, i traded him the testimony, then inside, sleep2 landed, i used freeze a second time.. and then im mashing the manafont macro but nothing's happening! 5 min left on timer and im like WTF did i do!?, he casts stun then some III spell, im left in the red then he runs up to me and pow pow /dead

third time went smoothly..

freeze > sleep2 > III ga spell > ES+Sleepga2 > manafont > burst > win :D everything landed, nothing was resisted, i was beyond myself

So in essence, it would be very wise to be equipped with more elemental magic skill than intelligence? I don't think a couple more intelligence would make any difference in how many hits it should take to kill him, but then again, I'm only a lvl 56. What do you guys think?

56 I can see resisting to be a problem especially with sleep. You might need both elemental torque and enfeebling torque.

if you're 59-60 I think skill is still good to have. I mean, you're casting ancient, III and ancient again. Even without maximum INT boost, who would survive if none are resisted?
Keep in mind tho that INT also helps with sleep so make sure you have enough of it.
