Personally I can't stand WHM. I'd much rather go BLM. It's much easier than RDM, but if you get a party that isn't doing a skillchain, BLM can be a little less enjoyable.

When I leveled BLM to 25 in three days, it felt like I was really working my ass off. Maybe because I had to backup heal, elemental enfeeble and other things ... do BLMs not do this anymore or at higher levels? Maybe that's why parties aren't ... as good as they used to be ... ?

Lets just say i never expect a BLM to backup heal even when things go bad and he has 500 MP...in general anyway.

BLM get enough enmity on them from damage dealing to do much healing in combat and shouldn't be expected to if there's a bard or RDM availble to backup heal. If the healer and/or support are playing well a BLM rarely has to heal anyway. If you mostly do pickup groups you will run into bad healers and supporters and you level faster if you can be flexible and fill the gaps.

For example, by default I would try to handle status recovery any time I grouped with a healer I didn't know. Going through Onzozo, I know more than half my parties had me as the primary remover of Paralyze and Silence. (Edit: And once, primary healer. ;_

I would also throw DSd Cures or Curagas out of combat to let the WHM rest more if he looked like he needed it, if my MP and the current Chain# permited. Also for Elvaan RDM/BLM who converted, sometimes it's enough to match their MP.

I've heard most BLM now are pretty bad and mostly level in manaburn. Meh, I played before elemental staves were affordable, and when TP returns for multi-hits made my damage output seem kinda weak. And starting out, importer BLM on this forum made it seem like BLM was expected to heal and nuke on MB only. I picked the job for the versatility of it, Sleepga, utility, healing and nuking. I guess my style is out of date.

There is no excuse for not healing a fellow party member if they get into orange HP or lower. a BLM should know when to heal and when not to heal. A good BLM/RDM will also dispel mobs as they see fit; especially in moon where weapons might have 4-8 buffs at any one time. No RDM can dispel that much and keep up with refresh as well as enfeebles.

We can put out some high numbers pretty quick, may not be as high as some other jobs but when you get a bunch of us together we can do some interesting things :D

BLM = awesome way to reduce stress. Here's why

One day, I was fishing at fort ghelsba and I was in a really crappy mood. So what did I do? I pulled a gob and started running around the fort. Before you know it, I have a train of 20-30 gobs chasing me all around. The best part was constantly spamming blizzaga/firaga until the battalion of gobs were at my feet. BLM sure does have it's perks.

While i was waiting for thunder weather in carpenter's landing yesterday (It took a long while btw... damn 9k for a stack of thunder crystals >.>.........) i was just casting dia on every single mob i found, pull em back to a group of more mobs, and cast thundaga3 followed by blizzaga3, sometimes i had to finish a couple mobs with my shiny earth staff (5 dmg minus 20% = lol), but seeing so many stuff go down at my feet really made my night XD that and getting many tiger fangs and flytrap leaves in the process :D
