  • DMG+ Merits.

    Anyone know how much Dmg+ you get per merits? Lets say Thunder Dmg+ Merits.

    It's magic atk bonus, so you get it in % just like any other Magic atk bonus gear.

    It's 2 Magic atk bonus on the selected element per merit upgrade.

    Oh, and max upgrades in Blm catagory is 5. So can get up to +10 Magic atk bonus of any one element should you choose to.

      Hmmm.. which to do.. which to do..

        Some of the BLMs I know immediately dumped their merits into Thunder and maxed it out as soon as they could. Is this a generally standard thing for a BLM to do?

          I have 3 in thunder at the moment, Most Blm I know would agree that full Thunder Merits is the way to go since the majority of the SC's you'll be using are Light and Thunder is our strongest spell. That's not to say that 3 thunder 2 Bliz is a bad thing (it certainly is a easier thing saving you 30k exp to get), but the more damage in a spell you have the more effective Magic atk bonus is, and Thunder has the highest base damage of all the spells so you get more bang for your buck if you put them all into 1 element.

          Not to mention Thunder IV and Thundaga III are the Elemental Sealed spells of choice on neutral mobs!

              At 75 you can talk to the moogle next to Maat and he'll give you a key item and the basic rundown on merit points.

              After that, you can swap to Merit mode in your mog house, or it'll swap over automatically if you cap XP. This is all only at level 75.

              For every 10k Limit Points you earn (XP, just a different name), you get a Merit Point. You can then go in your mog house and use these to raise various attributes of your character. First upgrades are almost all 1 Merit Point (except base stats), subsequent upgrades take more. Each category is limited in the total number of upgrades you can do.

              Most upgrades actually take effect in stages over all jobs and levels. If you upgrade MP once, you get +10MP on any job starting at level 10. If you upgrade Elemental Magic once, you'll have +2 Elemental Magic on any job starting at level 10. Upgrade it again, and you'll have +4 starting at level 20 (I think it is).

              As of a couple patches ago, there are also job-specific ugprades. These are only active at 75 on that job. For a BLM, they're element potency upgrades. RDM gets element accuracy and the ability to reduce the Convert timer, other jobs get other stuff relevant to them.

              You still lose XP, not Limit Points if you die, and points spent won't go away unless you purposely clear them.

              Basically though...nothing you really need to worry about until you hit 75

                woah

                Woah. I thought all of teh lvling stopped at 75 I guess there's way more to it...... no wonder lvl 75 people still lfp..... I thought they just wanted buffer xp so they could do high lvl shit and not lvl down :spin: man i'm stupid.

                  I've been dumping it all into Thunder at the moment. It's our strongest spell and probably the most frequently used next to Blizzard. All the other nukes are pretty situational, so I wouldn't pump anything into them. Also I'm maxing out Elemental Magic+ Merits, so far +4.

                    i have decided to go all in on Ice spells, because it is my most accurate spell.

                    also, my first Ancient Magic elemental is ice, which should give me a bonus @ level cap activities...

                    thunder is strong enough already for me... boosting ice seems like a great idea.... would be great for darkness MB's too.

                      The benefits of job-specific merits are only granted on the job you're putting them on, and exclusively at level 75. Meaning, if you do capped stuff, you are unable to profit from it.

                            They're your merits to do with as you please...

                            But I still highly suggest that you put them all into Thunder.
