Gods and HNM, Gear Setups

As my LS begins to tackle the Gods, i'm debating different setup of gears to myself. Basically whether to pump my Elemental magic to hell, or to work on upping the damage of my resisted spells.

Basically, my Elemental Gear setup would include:

Black Cloak till 74, then Weskit + Elite Beret
Druid's Slops
AF1 Gloves

or

Errant Body + AF hat (Weskit + AF hat at 73)
Errant Slops
Zenith or Igquira Gloves

I've heard, purely hearsay, that on Gods it dosent' matter how much Elemental Skill you have, your still going to get massive resists, and that pumping your base damage is more important. However I'm not so sure. I will obviously do my own testing, but I wonder what other Black Mages who have fought the Gods/Kings opinons are.

From my experience, maxing your elemental skill does help... though it won't make a big difference but u'll still notice it. The only god that there isnt much a difference with max elemental skill is Byakko, probably because its light based.

I usually wear for Genbus Seiryus Byakko's and Suzakus this setup :
Corresponding Staff (Aquilo's if I didnt bring it with me)
AF1 Hat (God AF2 would be so nice, but so rare D
Weskit
Wizard's Gloves
Errant Slops

I also have 3 upgrades to Elemental Magic Skill (Plan on getting 4th soon for a total of +8 Elemental Magic skill)
For Kirin I will use Elite Beret, Wind Staff Druid Slops Weskit, and its still hard to get a good spell in on him. With the normal gods it seems a lot easier to put out some high numbers, but Kirin on the other hand seems to have higher a much higher resist (I constantly check timer for Elemental Seal ; .
