Unfortunately, this is quite true. You'd like to think these players would have learned something at the lower levels, or hoped that the lower levels weed out the bad apples, but it appears that ignorance and/or laziness still finds a way to prevail.

However, we all fall into a rut of thinking, "Well they made it this far, they should know what they're doing." And then we find instances where that's not quite the case. Survival of the fittest doesn't seem to apply to humans, and it sure as hell doesn't apply to MMORGs.

Elvaan BLM and Taru BLM don't come close to comparing in dmg. In parties my Freeze rapes stuff compared to theirs. But still, Elvaans are good in their own ways..... solo'ing, meleeing, having longer forearms than my body..... def a jack of all trades There's nothing wrong with Elvaan BLM's but when it all comes down to it, nothing beats a taru. I mean come on, you can't punt around an Elvaan.

I love being an elvaan blm. I think the only level range where it would have been better for me to be tarutaru is in the 50's. Other than that, enmity limited me from doing any more damage than I already did. End-game my HP is priceless. It's inevitable that you will get hit by big AoE at some point. With stoneskin I can survive Kirin Stonega IV every time. My MP doesn't hinder me too much. I have 1000 hp and 800 mp. It's more than enough hit my damage limits.

                    /Cheer maria ^^

I really don't care about being the "best" race for blm anymore, after levelling melee jobs since 2002 in ffxi i needed a change of pace. Def. alot of fun to nuke in the backround and rarely get hit ^^ I have 1 astral, make sure I eat pies, have ALL my current spells and any new equipment that adds mp or int.

Still in valkurm but I am happy with my performance, no complaints either. I put mp gear slightly over int gear but maybe that will change as I level.

Taru Freeze is not terribly more damaging than Elvaan Freeze. I did a number of manaburn parties with BRD + multiple BLM setups in my mid-50s and early 60s as a bard, so I got to see the comparison between different races firsthand.

Let me make it short: It's all about what gear/food you use. Elvaan lose a handful or so of INT points vs. Tarutaru at your level (50), which adds up to a whopping.. 15 damage or so, maaaaybe 40 on a magic burst, assuming your spell doesn't get resisted. Considering how few spells you generally cast at a monster, it's a very small percentage.

As long as an Elvaan BLM has reasonable equips, they will deal more than sufficient damage. Sure, a similarly equipped Tarutaru will hit for more, but the difference is not what you make it out to be. If you seriously think a few extra damage points twice a fight is going to make or break a party, it would be a good idea to rethink your priorities.

endgame there is a lot of stuff that will make up for the differences in races.

as a hume blm, i can wear zenith gear that gets rid of hp and adds mp and not have to worry about getting1-shot by things like some taru. likewise, int stops becomming such a huge deal. yes, taru will always outdamage an equally well-equipped blm of the other race, but things like servivability, etc can come into play. as a hume at 75 i have 859hp and 888mp and burst for roughly the same amount as the taru in my ls.

                            Re: Elvaan BLMs...

This is why it is good to be an elvaan BLM (note that I DO NOT have thunder merits):

I took another hit after that totalling nearly 1000 damage and I still survived. No matter what race you are you will outdamage what enmity allows you to on any mob in the game. Being able to push that line and still live increases ur damage output more than a good chunk of INT does.

                            Double Post Edited:
                            No wind merits:

I didn't survive this one.. but I did survive Whirlwind quite easily where as taru's would be nearly dead.

                              Re: Elvaan BLMs...

Um... I got about 30 levels on Black mage in no time at all, and I am Elvaan.

Now that I hit level 52, I can't believe how much easier it is to land non-resisted nukes. Oh and I managed to live when I get aggroed thanks to my high HP.

But seriously, you'll have no problem as an Elvaan Black mage. No matter what anyone else says. Gil fixes all problems. Hah.
