Building the ultimate BLM Tank.

Most of my friends are lower lvl then me, mid 50's. I've been doing alot of help on AF key hunts, etc.

Most of the time I end up tanking so I've been trying to build myself into the ultimate BLM tank. ^^

Right now I :

-have earth staff. -20% dmg
-eat fishkabobs

Working on :
-leveling RDM up for subjob. Fastcast and Phalanx


Question is, anyone try out the L70 BLM earring and know when the latent effect kicks in? it's -30% dmg effect on it.

Almost L70, that earring would be perfect if it kicks in on yellow health. L70 would be -50% total physical dmg, Phalanx & Stoneskin. /flex.

yeah, the earring's effects kick in at 75% hp or yellow health. thats really odd though, a blm main tank O_o.

BLM tank odd? nah!

When you think about it though, I'm helping a group of lower lvl friends, we may have a PLD in PT, but say the PLD is L50 and the mobs are VT to him. Sure, under normal situations PLD is the better tank, but that VT mob to him is only EP/TW to me, I tank it alot better just because of my lvl.

Plus I have other uses for tanking.. Farming, NM's, raising weapon skills, etc :D

If you can get some phlanx rings. They add on 10 def each. I am not sure about your server but on seraph, last time I checked they were 33k each. Just get them use them when you need, then drop them in your mog house until you need them again.

Ok my dreams have been crushed. I've been playing around with the L70 BLM earing last couple days and for the life of me, I can not get the latent effect to work.

Yellow health with less then 100 tp is not it.

I've tried a ton of combos.. yellow health, red health, 0tp 300tp, nothing works.

I also read somewhre else that maybe you need to wear the L50 BLM ring at same time.. nope, tested that too.

What a piece of junk.. no wonder it sells for 500gil at AH

Anyone know the real answer to the L70 earrings?

Good question. I always assumed those were yellow HP. Maybe they are dependant on subjob like the lvl 30 earrings? Or maybe they are spell dependant, like the enhancing sword ( requires an en- spell to trigger effect).
