meh...the more I try to better my equipment, the more I get focused on competing with my fellow blm's. I've probably made a lot of people dislike me because of that...so I've decided to just work on my equips, and hope that others can do the same. It's helped me actually be happy for others when they get staves and such, and not make me bitter that I'm less unique.

Atra, it took me a VERY long time to farm my gear, easly 2 months to get my Sniper's Rings, Life Belt, and other needed gears...I'll never regret those times spent however. I love it when someone examines me "woah, you got two Sniper's Rings? Life Belt and all that other stuff too? Both GS and Scyth capped? Dude! You are awesome!" I love that. Does it increase my invites? HELL NO. LOL. However, this Haubergeon I'm saving for, should.

this is a little off topic but i just read your post Atrapos and was wondering who the puller for that party was?

i assume the Paladin had to take a knee after battle so he'd have the full MP needed to keep hate of the nukers each battle.

I did have a blmx4/rdm/whm party where yours truly was the puller...only because I'd get full mp before the other blm's hit 75%. It was amusing, to say the least. That party wasn't one I'd like to repeat...3 deaths for me ; ;

When you do pld/blmx3/rdm/whm, the paladin will usually end up pulling after resting for at most 1-2 ticks for chain 0-3, and immediately pulling for chain 4 and 5.

In most of my blm parties, if all of the blm's had ice staff, black cloak, and dark staff, we could've probably been making chain 6's. Unfortunately, that has yet to happen. The closest I came was when I partied with Leche, a japanese blm who at the time was lv65, and had vermillion cloak, all the elemental staves, shaman's cloak, full af, and a HQ dark staff. He and I ended chain 5 with similiar MP (he was doing Bio II / Poison II every fight while I was doing shock/frost, so that could explain why he had the same MP as me), but due to the limiting factor of the pld's mp, and the 3rd blm's mp, we were not able to attempt chain 6. Every time I hear someone say that were making chain 5-6s easily...I doubt it severely, as I've yet to see Chain 6 in my 68 levels of playing. I've come close a number of times...but never actually got one. Things like adds, pops, no mobs, no mp, etc. all work against it...iunno. I hope I get a chance to see it some day.

No need to be bitter...it's not like you didn't get your money's worth on the stuff you buy anyways. I think it's great that stuff is more affordable since I wouldn't want to put anyone through the awful farming that I had to do ;\

most i've ever seen was chain 8. this wasn't in an exp party though...coffer key hunting, had like 12 lvl 60+ and i was level 52 in eldieme. they annihilated everything really really fast.

well thats exactly my point. i had to go through all this awful farming to get where i'm at while everyone else who just acquired a dark or ice staff had to put in less than half the effort. not quite fair is it?

There will always be deflation as more items come into the game. The only way to counter this is item decay... which sucks in other ways.

Yes you may have had to work harder for your staves - but you own them at a time they are rare. As they come down in price, you will have more bragging rights than they will. If that's not enough reason to you to spend the extra gil on them when they are new items, then realize that they will go down in price as supply increases, and wait for that to happen.

Me, I'm looking to buy a dark staff (I've been through a hellish past couple of days trying to get the last 50k I need without BCNM or NM drops). I just really hope it is worth it; I've considered quitting the game almost because it is not a joy to me to spend days making gil doing things that I despise (farming being the main one, fishing a secondary only because it is not vey time efficient at my level). The game has felt like work for the past week. However, whenever my friend pays me back the 110k he owes me, I can go buy my dark staff. And I will feel proud to be able to carry it around Jeuno, and to use it in the remaining coffer key hunts for me and my static party (damn Eldieme, I hate that place soooo much). You can feel proud of yourself that you had the determination and persistence to work hard for your uber items.

I really admire those of you willing to put the effort in for +1 items; if I was fully committed to only one job, I would probably do that too. But being a well-rounded caster can be pretty expensive ><

dark staff is one of those purchases that you don't even realize how amazing it is until you try to play without it. My lv69 blm will gain full mp back in less time than my lv32 whm (966 mp compared to ~400 mp). It works out to be about 50% extra efficiency. It's really really good

I got chain 8! once....though thats because a ninja was owning everything he could find in delkfutt for my 3-3 mission back in august.


I got an idea....this will be fun(Im gonna go make chain 30!)
