Exploring the concept of Meteo

after doing a search of the entire forum list I found only one topic that really discussed meteo.

it also has a screen shot of someone casting the spell on a target.

the screenshot is poor and it's hard to tell if the person casting is a GM or a player. but it's prety obvious that a humanoid is casting.

what has anyone heard about this spell?

of course the standard which has rung so many times in this server can easily apply: "this game has been out so long that if a japanese player doesn't have it, you can't get it."

someday I'd love to prove that wrong ^_^

but in the meantime, I'm not trying to argue that a player can get meteo. They may be able to, they may not, I don't know. But even if it's NPC or GM cast only I must admit it appears on the outside that this is a pretty rare spell. From my research it appears king bahamut can cast it, this joker in the screenshot clearly can... any one else either pc or npc that you know of have it?

As for meteor, King Behemoth has it and he is level 80ish? I believe. I am sure the spell will eventually be in the game when the raise the level cap. If not the next, one of the next cap raises.

I believe that is meteor, a spell King Behemoth can cast on unsuspecting hapless fools.

I want that spell.

The Meteor spell exists in the game's data, but it is not yet implemented for use by players. It is currently set to BLM level 200 and has an MP cost of 1. (No joke)

Carbuncle cast it at level 70. I've saw someone with it. And he never admitted it was a fake. I would of thought it was but way before april first I went to this site: http://www.shadow-dragons.com/index2.htm and went to the magic section clicked BLM. The have all the black magic listed up to lvl 254 and although the level of meteor isn't confirmed it's between 200 and 254.

Where did those come from?

Crowzukin, where did the lists of those spells come from? And what do they say? I guess I don;t really understand how/why those are already coded into the game. I guess its good to see that SE has plans of keeping this game around for a while.....

They are lists generated by a program that analyzes the FFXI data files. The first image is from a list of magic scrolls and the second is a list of spells.

It will most likely be in the game I'd imagine if they raise the level cap to level 80 or 85. The one spell I'd want to see a BLM have is Ultima, however ;;

Wow level 200... that will be impossible. I hear its real difficult to level around 60 imagine what it would be like at 100. Thats crazy. I wanna see more Summons ^_^ /clap I wanna see a Bahamut especially. Anyway, yeah the spell at the begining of the game was Meteor. There is no way in hell that was Blizzard! Blizzard kinda forces its way from the inside of the enemy not hail done on them (possibly Blizzaga I won't know I dont have it) But once released I bet it will cost more than 1 MP to cast. You would think it would do helacious damage so if it did cost 1 MP it would probably take forever to cast. And if they are going to raise the cap to a max of 200 wouldnt they have to make like a new provoke skill? Cause the damage you do it how much hate you accrue isnt it?

One other question... warn me if this is stupid but in that spell list the second level Ancient magics cost less to cast than the first set... isnt that a bit... odd?

The level 200 and the mp costs are probably just arbitrarily set because they haven't been implemented yet.
