Im curious to see what people has as their macros and what their macros tell the party. For example my Fire spell goes a bit like this.
/p "Rise up, and raze all greenry! Fire"
    / ma "Fire" <t>

For you Final Fantasy Tactics fans like I you may recognize that as the chanting phrase from Fire1. Yes, I cast Fire1 insessantly til I got the chanting phrase for Fire, Cure, and Protect and still have to get Poison, Blind, Blizzard and Bio (I think they haveBio os FFT)

I was just curious if anyone else uses phrases from FFT or their own or just the blunt ones like "Using Fire".

you might want to try < bt> or < stnpc> instead of <t>

      bt - targets 'red' monsters
stnpc - allows you to target monster
      t - kills people

I hate macros like that. I've BListed people for it. I don't need four lines of sam telling me someone is casting a spell. I've had mages whose macros took up three lines in the lob, plus the standard battle spam.

(Mage) Blah blah blah blah blah blah bla
        h blah blah blah!
        (Mage) (Cure) II!
Mage starts casting Cure II on Tank.
(Mistigris) I'm BListing Mage now to avoid his spam, if he says something important somebody else repeat it please. ^^

<bt> gets kinda messy when you get a link. To avoid hitting the wrong mob I usually use "/target <bt>" then <t>. My CC type spells are all on <stpc>.

I agree with what was said above.

I usually use f8 to target the incoming mob, but my sleep/stun/and burst spells are all on <stnpc>. Why burst as well? It lets me hit the macro (interrupting any 2 part macro's that may be in progress if I'm caught off guard), and adjust when I cast more accurately depending on when the melee goes. For some reason, sometimes hitting ctrl+# lags a bit for me, but hitting enter off a <stnpc> never does. Just an extra bit of insurance that I hit all my MB's.

          The flower text though, seriously has to go. The only annoucnements I have are for curing status cures (so whm knows I have it taken care of), curing (habit because all whm's I know have it...also lets the pld/whm's know that I'm adding cures so they can use a lower cure), and drain. Why drain? It's my *attempt* to avoid whm's wasting mp on curing me. Why should they spend 40something mp on a cure III when I can use 21 mp to drain back 200+ hp? It never works though ; ;

You might think your flower text is cute, but it gets old FAST.

              /ma "Spell Name" <stnpc>
              /wait 1
              /equip "Main" "Elemental Staff"

i used to have /emote motion in my spell macro's but i had to reinstall FFXI after a bad patch crash so i just didnt bother try'n to be cute again.

and PLEASE take the group spam out of your macro's .. No one cares what elemental doom you are bringing down on the monster. All they do is add more lines to an already crouded chat box

Spell spam is almost as bad as:

                (Monk) Boost!

every 15 flippin seconds, even during downtime.

                  I just use

                  /ma "Spell Name"

the <t> is a default parameter.

I used to put some fun things into my spell macros, but they got old pretty fast. Now I try not to /p anything unless they are important for the party to know. For example, when I switch from nuking to support healing, try to do link control with sleep/bind, casting Escape in sticky situations, or when I am going all out with manafont in an emergency.

BTW, <bt> toggles through all the monsters currently engaged by your party, and those only. So this will not work too well in aliance because the monster will be constantly switching between purple and red.

<stnpc> is all good and dandy, but personally I don't like having that one extra step on casting. Besides, if you bind keys for left and right menu only, you can just selct npc with those.

Besides, as a BLM, my first duty in party is to deal damage and cripple the monster with elemental and dark magic. Support and healing only comes in emergencies. So I will always have the monster targeted anyways.

Instead, I use <stpc> in my cure/support spell macros so I don't loose my target.

imho <stnpc> in your nuke macro's makes it ALOT easier for me to land the 2 level 3 -aga's in a skillchain burst if needed.

In a Fusion > Light WS chain I will burst Firaga 3 then Aeroga3 to do this you need to cast Aeroga3 as soon as u can (right after your 3rd arm "Wave"). <stnpc> allows me to queue up Aeroga3 as Firaga is casting and then start the spell with only 1 button press :D

but TBH there are not many monsters that are left alive for the Aeroga 3 to actually land on
