i think it is because you can have a bow that attack from afar and can do black magic as well.

Is a ranger sub job for a black mage a good idea?

Well actually it's not because the black mage will suffer a great MP loss if you choss ranger as a sub. Plus the ranger would only be at half it's good ablilities. The black mage wouldn't carry enough HP with it so in doubt the MP converts into HP and the INTELEGENCE converts into AGILITY. And another costly mistake is how much gil you will need for your extra arrows. Thief/Ranger or the other way around would suit better. Or of course you could have 2 other possibilities: Black Mage/White Mage or Summoner/White Mage but not BLACK MAGE/SUMMONER or the other way around.:spin: :angel: :spin: :angel: :angel: :spin: :angel:

best thing about using sub RNG is a boost in range attack. you get to shoot arrows faster and more accurate and can use WS with range weapons.

*BUT* blackmages can't equipt any range weapons at all. staffs, wands and daggers are what you can use.

So there's absolutely no point using sub ranger at all as a blackmage. unless you want to scan the area when you're looking for a specific monster

Uhh quick question relating to the RNG sub... what lvl does the RNG get the enemy scan?
