Best Starter Weapon for a Elvaan BLM/WTM

I was wondering what would be a good starter weapon for an Elvaan BM/WM, swords, rods, maces?

black mages can't use mace rods and staffs are what you can use. (i think dagger too)

any 2 hand staff/rod will be great earlier in the game while you still solo a lot. 2 hand staff/rod give bonus to MP and they have ok attack power.

1 hand rod/staff normally have weak attack. but they give boost to your mind+int. it's great to equip them while you're in a party. but not so good for soloing.
