Black Mage / Red Mage

im really considering being a blk/rdm, since i think its a VERY GOOD combo. these are my reasons for subbing rdm.

1) red mage's lv 15 passive ability fast cast, an extreme help.

2) red mages passive abilities magic attack up and magic defense up. you get a good boost of strength in magic on TOP OF the black mage's.

3) you get access to weapon enchanting spells, a bit of white magic etc.

4) i know it wont happen for a while but when the level cap is raised to 85 (soon will be 70) then refresh and convert will be a LIFESAVER.

i dont really want to be a secondary healer, thats why i didnt sub wht, the wht magic spells from the rdm are mainly to help me survive when soloing.

anyway, all opinions are welcome. any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

yea refresh is good.... so good. some BLM now use /rdm. /rdm for convert alone is already worth it

but at the current level /whm is still more preferred tho.

thanks for the reply jei, but im positively sure that rdm will beat whm for blk mage sub pretty soon. 2 words: refresh and convert, okay 3 words with the 'and' :spin:

by the way does fast cast double the casting speed? does it decrease its time by 1/2? how exactly does it work?

i think fast cast has a little variation. when you cast spell you'll see a guage running from 0 to 100 indicating your cast time.
your magic skill will shorten the time, and fast cast will shorten the time. how short it can be is not... fixed, i think.

i normally finish casting escape when the guage is still around 50-60% these days...

Magic skills don't shorten cast time, it's efficiency.

Thanks for the insight Rpg, now that I think about it this is the way I think I'm gona go. I was going to be BLM just needed a good sub, and a White mage would be boring. In the end i may end up being a summoner but Blm/Rdm would up the BLM attack spells. A BLM/WHM is almost kinda like a paladin/ dark knight

No, it does not.. In fact you will have less INT and less MP.

BLM/RDM is a good combination after around level 50 BLM though. You would be lacking in useful spells and MGS until then.

It is not. BLM/WHM is the best combo for BLM as of now.
