    Re: Caedarva Mire

Copy and pasted from the TOAU thread.

    Level: 61-65
    Solo Area: F-10
    Pets: Treant Sapling 61-63
    Prey: Marsh Murre 64-68
You will have to pet swap most of the time. Don't ever think one sapling can take a VT but 2 can definately take one down. At 61 the exp has been awesome so far. Chain 4's for almost 300 without ring. Very good spot. For the stronger VT keep your pet till the bird dies. Bring sushi as they have good eva.

Edit: I lvld here from 61 to 65 so it is definately good past 63. Imps are viable at 65 but the undead can be annoying. Also amnesia will screw you over for exp since you cant release your pet.

Want to add here, that imp burn PTs are hella fun, and BST fits in as a good DD.

And in regards to soloing as well, I believe imps can be soloed with the leeches that are found around here, and most definately any sheep if you can drag them up. Think of Imps as gob pets with Ancient Magic.

        Re: Caedarva Mire

I've seen the Caedarva Jnun spot posted in various spots. There's also a possible alternate at that same spot. Was messing around at that area trying to get Karakul skins. Died when the sheep popped 3 chigoe after WSing to my surprise. They're all DC to me, but I think a couple levels lower and XP could be pretty nice.

        Caedarva Mire J-8 (first map)
Pet: Oil Slick (65-67), Karakul (68-70)
        Prey: Karakul (68-70), Chigoe (??)

Camp on the west side of the two ponds. The Chigoe will run themselves down the west path, so position yourself accordingly if you need to take a break w/o flea aggro. I recommend 66-68 for duo and 69-71 for solo. Since at 66, your only EM option is slimes, have both BSTs charm the same slime, since there's no zoneline or safe water to lose aggro. One slime between 2 BSTs is still plenty. I also recommend you have Stoneskin up or TP ready before engaging Chigoe (especially solo) and backing off when you need to recuperate. It's no Colibri-fest as far as xp, but it's still pretty fun. Chigoe are listed as 62-66 on FFXIclopedia, but I think they are closer to 66 than 62.

Also, do not think that your slime will overpower the sheep. They hit surprisingly hard on your Oil Slicks. I would even venture to say that they ignore a great deal of the slimes' physical damage reduction. I can't seem to figure out why.

I would like to add a note that seems left out about the camp outside the west nashmau exit: I leveled here 63-65 (or 66, but it was kinda slow at that point) using the leeches as pets. Leeches, even at 63, can usually take down the highest level birds with just one if you don't have any links. Additionally, leeches benefit from amorphs > birds. I don't really understand why so many people reccomend to use saplings. Saplings always seem too unreliable for me.

            Re: Caedarva Mire

I'm reposting this from my original post in the "EXP Spots in TOaU" thread because I think it will do more good here for everyone ^.^

From 63-65 the xp here was phenomenal, and with xp band and sanction I was getting 6k xp/hr for a long time. At 66 the majority of targets were now DC but I was happy to get about 2-2.5k xp/hr with only sanction on (about 4k/hr with ring) and it was easier, more action (b/c I would fight alongside my pet), and safer than any other camp I tried. I didn't bother trying to continue at 67 since all targets would have been DC, but you could probably grind it out one more level if you were so inclined.

            Camp Details:
If you leave through the North exit of Nashmau, you will come out to a large marsh. This a roaming camp, but there are plenty of Marsh Murres to fight, using saplings or leeches (my favorite pet ^^)! With my gaudy there was ZERO downtime, but I'm assuming the camp is still doable without it. Nothing aggros besides the Chigoes mentioned in my Warnings section below and the elemental when it's around.

Pets: Saplings and eventually leeches (preferred pet)
            Enemy: Marsh Murre

My final strategy here was to only use the NE section of the swamp, where there are 3 bird pops. There is a sapling that spawns near one of the birds so I would use that against the first bird. Then move to the NE corner and get the leech in the tunnel and use it against the second bird who spawns near the tunnel (fight him in the tunnel so the leech won't despawn and will stay at the lvl you want him). Then run south along the east side of the swamp and get a leech and then come back up the east side to where the third bird pops. Then rinse and repeat!

The birds seem to respawn so fast that I was never waiting for a repop even with only a 3 mob cycle. Originally I had started fighting near the zone line where only two spawn, but I couldn't keep chains going there though because of all the running required to get to a third mob so I eventually switched to the strategy I described above.

            WARNINGS:
During rainy weather a Water elemental spawns in the NE section of the swamp so you have to be mindful of casting when he's around, but for 4 levels of xp he was rarely there. Also, there are two Chigoes that spawn in the middle of the North section of the swamp (normally closer to the wall), however if you stick to the water side as you run through that area you won't get aggro. I stopped trying to pull the bird from that area altogether because if I happened to get Chigoe aggro they would ruin my chain (and normally almost kill me). At 65, an EM leech can have trouble taking one of them down because of their extremely high evasion, and they're only DC so it's not worth fighting them. That's when I went with the strategy I described above. As a sidenote, ppl die to the chigoes ALL the time as they're running through so if you're nice you'll do your best to {Raise} whenever you can. ^^

              Re: Caedarva Mire

              Duo/Solo Camp

              Level: 68~70

Area: J-9 No Chigoes anywhere to be seen, only aggro is the Jnun and the Oil Slicks.

              Pets: Wild Karakul(68~70), Oil Slick(<68)

              Prey: Jnun 70+;
Moves to Watch: Stinking Gas(AOE VIT- attack that can really affect your pet's durability) and Undead Mold(DOE(?) Virus attack).

              Strategy:
Soloing is risky here, mainly due to the fact that Wild Karakuls appear to be mildly resistant to charm, and we all know how jellies can be Basically, you'll be using one pet to soften the Jnun down to around 50%, then finishing it off alongside your second pet.

Duoing: One of the nicer duo experiences I've had in a while. I suggest playing tug-of-war with an Oil Slick til charm sticks(Blink and Stoneskin recommended), at which point your partner will grab a Karakul, then one of you will pull a Jnun back near the eastern side(where the logging point is). You'll absolutely destroy these things. Depopping your pets is handy once you're assured they can't respawn Tough to you, since that Virus attack shuts down their Regen for a loooooong time.

Very nice camp; Chain #4 easily doable at 68.
Sig coming soon to a PC near you

You can die on your knees . . . or you can stand.

                Re: Caedarva Mire

I just wanted to echo the numbers shared on the sapling vs bird camp just west of Nashmau. I did this camp for a good while last night at level 61. I had the camp all to myself for almost an hour, and then another BST showed up and camped near the Alzadaal entrance, which took away a Murre spawn from time to time.

Taking out ring bonuses, I was averaging 5k exp/hour with Sanction. I imagine it would be better than that if I was level or two higher, and I didn't have to share spawns with another player.

                  Duo Camp

                  Level: 70 - ?? (maybe earlier)
Area: J-9 (ish), only aggro is the Jnun and the Oil Slicks.
                  Pets: Wild Karakul, Oil Slick
Prey: Heraldic Imps, higher lvl Jnuns

This is probably one of the best camps I’ve experienced. A BST friend and I came here at 71 but all the pets are DC, so I’m sure it can work earlier. Basically you both charm a pet and run back towards the runic portal just past the bird pop and pull imps to the top of the hill (it’s a short/safe run). Two pets (both sheep both oil or mix) will most likely take down an imp. One bst might need to swap during fights but we never used more then 2-3 pets. DO NOT MELEE, just sit back and let the pets do the work (maybe toss a Dia here and there). At 71 with sanction and empress band we got 420-675+ xp per imp kill (Jnuns gave about half that). Often it’s a heavily camped area but if you get lucky and not many people are around, chain 3s and 4s are not too uncommon.

With 1 empress charge and sanction, we netted about 20k xp in about 2½ hours

Caution: Oils are resistant to charm. Sometimes you will be able to charm 5 oils in a row. Then the next one you can mischarm on the same oil 5 or more times. I’m a Taru with roughly +25 Chr and a light staff, so imo it’s not necessarily my gear that’s causing this. I would not recommend swapping for oil mid fight because the other bst will not be able to help you much should you mischarm multiple times.

I can completely agree with this posters information but would suggest that you can go there with a duo of Bsts at 69 but be very careful of mischarmed sheep [especially the NM sheep that is nearby] at this level.
I only ever used sheep against the Heraldic Imps as found they gave the best experience, from 200-300+ with a ring and so long as you set both sheep on an imp at the same time would have no problems. As advised DO NOT try to melee imps at 69 [or 70], they can hit with tier 3 nukes for up to 500+ and had no problems with links.
My experience is since the last update so relevant from Jan 2011.
