Funny how people still bear this resentment toward BST for charming mobs, of all things. Heaven forbid we do that.

So I'm out in Cape Terrigan. Before the update, this place would have just had BLM and BSTs soloing. Now that FoV is expanded out here, its only natural people would come check it out. That's cool, I'm just out here for the treasure casket hunting with a nice side of light EXP. It I really need to solo serious EXP, I got other places I can go that most people would shit thier pants just thinking about soloing in them.

So I picked the Rabbit and Lizard regime. I suppose I could do Robber Crabs and Goblins, but the latter requires me to simply use mobs as cannon fodder for a suicide bomber and the former just takes too long to fight. Plus WHMs are littered all over looking for Goblin Alchemists with Esuna scrolls. That's cool, they can have 'em.

I just wnat my Sirocco Axe. Its why I'm here.

But should I charm anything, I get a "and that's why people hate BST."

A DRG actually gave me lip about charming stuff. Tough shit, pal. I'm charming, its what I do. I've been able to solo well before this and didn't need two sympathy expansions with free EXP and weak-as-shit mobs to get where I am.

I like to think I've actually been a nice BST. I go out of my way not to get in your PT's way. Fields of Valor in RoZ Zones, though, All bets are off. You've stepped into my world now. Everything's fair game for everyone in FoV. I want my EXP, Gil, Caskets and Elite Training Regimes as much as anybody. I need tabs to get those Elite Training Regimes.

Maybe I should go by that DRG and say "And that's why we lolDRG... they jump." I mean, its what they're known for - the jumping. So dumb how they jump and all that. Really annoying when they use it to claim, too.

Some people just can't stand competition. Best way to deal with them is to warn them that you've been polite, and that if they can't hold themselves to the same standard, you won't act with any care for their group.

Also, Feba, I don't sink to that level. See, I have a different way. Those people just don't get in my merit PTs, seeing as I have jobs that are rather attractive to merit PTs. So any dime-a-dozen melee that wants to talk shit can, I'll just sass them back and remember later when they're seeking or shouting for help and I have a job they might need.

That doesn't absolve them of the consequences.

It's not the JA so much as the fact that you tapped a resource that somebody else wanted to tap. You just have a unique way of doing it as a bst, so there's more notoriety. If any other job had walked up and claimed and killed the mob, that drg would have been no better or worse off than if you had charmed it, but it takes a little more self-delusion to bitch at somebody for doing exactly what you were going to do. Not that it stops people.

I think it comes from all the NM camping people do, really.

I remember one time I got fussed at for grabbing an unclaimed Goobuue that had aggroed someone else while were farming. Then they go into this whole tirade about how you don't claim when someone else has hate.

This was an old HNM claim philosophy that had been honored on Titan, but this wasn't an HNM, it was a goobuue and I was farming for tree cuttings like anyone would from them. I think people just have this major sense of entitlement. Rules say if unclaimed = fair game. All I need to know.

This is the bottom line. Anyone who disagrees is wrong. Until the mob's name turns purple, you don't have claim to anything.

Though to be fair, if I see someone obviously farming, and they happen to have 2+ mobs on them, I usually wont go out of my way to take any unclaimed mobs they might have hate with. Alternatively, if they are hogging mobs in the zone like they own them, it doesn't make me feel guilty at all taking something that they think belongs to them.

The only time this is acceptable is when someone claims a mob that has hate on you, but doesn't actually do enough to it to turn it. Getting killed by a mob you can't fight back against because someone decided to claim it without knowing how much enmity you had on it is really crappy.

Also, train farmers who get pissy when you grab something off the end. Actually, I kinda grew to like train farming-- if no one else is around, at most you're hurting yourself. If other people are around, and have anything close to a decent method for claiming, you basically become a traveling mob delivery man. Always fun to just hang back in one little corner while someone else brings all the mobs by for you.

See, this DRG is bitching, and yet, now poor BLM's cant find a mob to solo and gain EXP. I think SE expanding to the RoZ zones really fucked up any up and coming BLMs because now they cant kill gob pets to gain their EXP............sigh and here I was planning to lvl BLM -.-

I also highly doubt they'll include CoP zones in this scheme beyond Tavnazian Archipelago, if they even decide to include it.

Main problem is right now people don't want to team up or sync up to do this stuff and just want to solo it so thay can say they solo. Lots of people have felt left out of being able to solo. While most jobs still don't solo as well as a BST or BLM could, the fact that they can on a smaller scale does open the game up to more casual players.

I'm still of the opinion that if you can't solo for EXP chains, you're just wasting time and space, but obviously there are plenty of people who feel the opposite and want to feel included in the solo hype.

Oddly enough, no one was touching the BST mobs out in Cape Terrigan last night, maybe they thought BLMs would deal with those. I just avoid them because one mischarm and that pet bunny will come and gangrape you with the other bunnies.

As far as soloing a BLM sub goes, there's still the tried and true worm soloing all the way to 37. Most of it doesn't even fall into the FoV scheme and the CoP/WotG zones are exempt. So if you're willing to go without the FoV perks, there's still plenty of room left to solo, in fact, I'd say you'll probably see the dungeon, CoP and WotG solo camps vacated by melees because of these FoV updates.

All dungeon areas are excluded from FoV. (Despite the looks, Ro'Maeve is an outdoor zone.)

Extending FoV to certain dungeons (or creating a new, similar system for dungeons) would be an interesting direction for future updates. They probably wouldn't need caskets though since dungeons already (usually) have chests and/or coffers and a variety of mobs drop keys.

Horutoto, Zeruhn, KRT, Giddeus, Ghelsba, Palborough, Shakhrami, Ordelles, Gusgen, Delkfutts, Korroloka, Fei'Yin, Bostanieux, Toraimarai, Eldieme, Uggalepih, Boyahda, QSC, Ifrit's, SSG, Davoi, Beadeaux, Oztroja, Zvahl... lots of dungeons hardly anyone goes to except for the occasional mission. (And popular zones aren't necessarily excluded from FoV - look at Qufim and the jungles - so Garlaige and CN are possibilities too.)

I dunno, Bibiki, Carpenters' Landing and Uleguerand are all pretty dead. I think FoV in those areas would be pretty cool.

Maybe not sea - but then, they did add it to sky, so maybe they will allow FoV in sea. It would be cool if a whole xzomit family counted toward the regime - for jobs that have the crowd control to actually fight whole families, that is. (Page 5: 6 Ul'yovras?)

Soloing DCs with your flag up is more exp than sitting in Whitegate or Jeuno with your flag up. Unless you're a job that can expect instant invites, or a good mix of jobs to build your own party is already available, it may be worth going somewhere you can get a few k if it takes a couple hours to find party - or if you don't find one all night, which happens to some jobs.

Chain bonuses are nice, but the signet bonus to evasion and defense against EM or lower enemies can really cut down on your downtime and/or free up more MP/TP for damage instead of healing (depending on your job setup). You can get both if you find a string of exactly EM enemies, but you won't always be that lucky, especially if you stay in the camp for a while.

P.S. Charming actually is worse for other players than claiming: the charmed mob's repop timer doesn't even *start* until it dies, which could be several minutes as you drag it around fighting other stuff, whereas if you claimed it usually you'd be trying to kill it pretty soon afterward. Most of the time it doesn't matter though - there's more enemies around.

My point was that with the inclusion of RoZ overworld zones that what FoV offers is more than sufficient.

Making it so that every last corner of overworld conquest areas would be stepping more on the toes of classes forced to solo. Yes, forced - do you get jazzed when you see a PUP or BLM inviting you to do ToA camps? Exactly. There's also the matter of CoP's accessability, even after all these years, lots of people still can't get past promys, its pretty surprising.

While most content would play well into what BST already does, it would slow down EXP per hour in the camps we have left. Not all of us want to be EXPing in ToA, especially considering from a solo standpoint that most of those zones are shit compared to RoZ/CoP/WotG options.

Basically, so long as SE keeps people out of Attowah before I'm 75 BST, I'm good. They pretty much destroyed sky as a BST camp with this update, though. That is, unless people are too lazy to go up there for anything still.
