Alot of you seem to love starting an arguement over nothing. It's a game fro crying out loud. You guys are flaming lun4tic over the Tame II remark. He never said Tame II was something you can aquire, he mentioned Tame II in a sarcastic sense to the poster before his saying you can't get Tame II because it aint a spell like a confuse/muddle was. And no I am not saying he is right, just that you guys don't look any better rearranging his wording so you can flame him more.
That aside -.-
I've been playing with BST for a bit today. Only level 9 with it so don't know a whole lot. At first I was a bit surpsied when my BST went aggro on me (after charm wore off hehe). But I've gotten quite used to it. Tame --> Fight 2 or so monster --> Send it to fight something stationary like worm on last battle (that way when It dies the worm can't run at me and aggro me lol) ---> Find a new mob while it does so. That strategy works wonder for me so far. The only small thing I'd like to see for the Beastmaster is atleast some sort of indictation that your monster is resisting the charm effect. Maybe a timer that, based of you stats and all and the mobs charm resistance, calculated and displays the amount of time for which you have it charmed. If not that, then ATLEAST something like how sneak/invis works. It tells you it is about to wear off soon before it does. That way I have ample time to find a new beast and prepare to get rid of my already tamed one.

For your own good, please do not associate yourself with me, compliment me, or agree with me. If you do, you will be flamed like I am because I'm so smart.

I just revisited playing my BST the other day and haven't looked back since. BST are the masters of getting out or almost any situation. Many times I've been in a nasty spot and been able to turn it around with the right charm. Can't wait for release!
On a side note it is funny to watch people post the most idiotic things about this game when they haven't got a clue.
I see a lot of people reccomending releasing the pet before the MOB is toast. However I think this is a poor strategy and sometimes difficult to impliment. What I reccomend is chaining your pets against a MOB. I soloed from level 12-35 this way. It's less experience admittedly but the bonus is a)that you never need rest which ends up getting you more experience and b) you can end up fighting VT MOBs which has the same effect as "A". It takes a little scouting of your area before choosing to fight there and a little practice and i reccomend not trying it before level 12. The only down side is that most people watching you fight will think you are completely nuts while you run around erratically looking for your next pet.
As for the bonuses of having a BST in your PT; the greatest bonus is the ability to charm a particularly tough MOB that may be kicking the PTs a$$, giving the group enough time to bow out. Also a BST can soften up the next MOB for the PT while the rest of the PT is still fighting creating exceptionally long chains.
( just some background on me. I was a beta tester for ffxi where i fell in love with the BST job. I was level 45 BST/20MNK by the end of the beta, second highest to a player named Stephen who hit level 55. I am curently waiting to play the release but should be on soon. Playing on Mid server)
