  • Something SE shoud consider adding to BST

I just got done with the Babban Ny Mheillea quest from Windurst Waters (present day) and part of the reward is actually the title you gain from it, which let's Lycopodiums in the past that follow you perform a a Regen move on you.

That go me to thinking, since BSTs have an affinity for working with creatures, why couldn't SE add similar benefits to the jobs from other non-aggro type mobs or even jug pets. Best buffs you ever really see from pets are Healing Breeze and Whistle, both of which are dhamel family and not really used that much in higher levels.

Granted, the Lycopodium regen the Title lets you get is only 3 HP a tick, but that's still decent for some campaign areas and low level soloing in West Sarutabaruta (S), particularly if you're a melee with no access to magic.

One way of going about this would be to just add a sort of hate system similar to Fomor and Pixies. While under BST job the mobs you kill would gain hate towards that school, while also gaining good status with the Beast family that are weak against them. Once you reach a certain level, you can flag for a quest with some random NPC's/NPC BST's and gain some benefit. Would help diversify each particular BST a bit and open up other camps by lets say, gaining status with tigers to the point that they won't aggro, giving you more freedom.

Just popped into my mind at 5am.

I am sure most mobs are pissed at bsts. You make them fight against their will for you and they die.

It's called Charm, not Capture. I'm sure all BST's do is pleasantly convince monsters to go on a murder spree, sometimes against their own kind.

Oh yea, I'm sure animals really like doing that.

As for the idea, I can see merit in having a mob buff you, but it should probably be limited to either Jug pets or at most things you've charmed.

Again, it's called "Charm," not "Persuade" or "Reason", and it uses CHR, not INT. It should be obvious by now that that BSTs run around in frilly or exotic outfits and use sex appeal and their aura of feral intensity to put beasts in heat and make them obey.

That or just make it so a pet's Buffs also work on the master.

                Would love to have that...

Though... anything they add to BST is a godsend.

They do, if they weren't self target ...

i.e. Healing Breeze/Whistle is an AoE buff... but Dhamels only.... I don't think any other pet has AoE buffs ...

Re: Something SE shoud consider adding to BST

                      An idea:

In EQOA, there was a measured hate system for particular groups of people. If you killed groups from one faction, then your reputation for all the opposing cities of that faction goes up. A similar system for mobs could be used, using the mob weakness chart.

So, for example, you kill a plantoid, your relationship with beasts goes up and plantoids goes down. You kill a bird, your relationship with birds goes down and aquans goes up. You kill a dragon, your relationship with demons goes up and dragons goes down.

In EQOA, this system was directly tied to an agro system (people you were friendly with didn't agro and were even friendly and help you out, people you weren't so friend with tried to kill you). In this type of system, it could be tied to a quest system, and if you dropped below a certain "hate level" for lack of a better term, the effect from that quest would go away until you brought it up.

                      If that makes any sense.

Re: Something SE shoud consider adding to BST

While a nice idea, it would be best to do something like that at the start of a game and stretch it out to be used by everyone. I mean, FFXI does have micro-systems in place similar to that ala tonberrys, Fomors and Pixies, but if they were to do it for entire classes of Mobs it would need to be a major addition to the game at the start. Otherwise it would totally throw off a lot of the mob placements and such in many zones.

I think it would just be easier to add a "reverse-empathy" type JA to bsts where they can copy their Pet's buffs similar to how Wyverns can copy a Drg's buffs.

What would be cool is a trait like FFT's Monster Ability, say at Level 40, that allows the mob to use a new TP move when charmed by the BST. Toss some awesome buffs in there for some mob types and some sweet damage moves for others.

EDIT: Or just plain "Manipulate" and let the BST pick which move the mob's going to use.
