IT'S NOT THE SIZE OF THE BST IN THE FIGHT, BUT THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT IN THE BST!

      monster player kill

When someone uses a NPC to kill another player. It's very difficult now after the patch that also happened to ruin a key thing for bsts.

In December 2005, SE introduced a patch that made mobs despawn (excluding NM's) once they were removed from their natural wandering area, and hate is completely lost. The key thing here for BSTs is the Leave command. If you Leave a pet outside of its range, it will despawn.

Prior to the Dec. '05 patch, some camps required BSTs to pull mobs outside of their wandering range (e.g. the Bostanieux Oubliette camp near the Ronfaure zone). Also, it was nice to be able to drag pets to a camp and set up what was referred to as a "zoo": your own personal collection of pets you can swap in and out.

After the patch, some camps were no longer possible (such as the Oubliette camp mentioned above), as the mob would despawn 10 seconds after "Leave". Additionally, setting up a "zoo" outside of your pets' ranges would result in the same scenario. Now, you can't bring your "zoo" to you, you have to camp within or close to pets natural wandering ranges.

Some old camps are now obsolete, but most have been adapted to accommodate the changes made in the patch.

With all that being said, there have been some benefits with the patch, one being that pets are now easier to convert (i.e. take T or DC pets and killing/despawning them until they return as EM's).

Edit: It should be mentioned that the initial intent of the patch was to prevent MPK's.

It also had the benefit of causing mobs to despawn when people zone aggro. Prior to the patch, in areas like Yhoater, Garlaige, Crawler's Nest, etc. when people would zone aggro, everyone in the camps near the zone lines would have to zone out also or fear the wrath of aggro mobs wandering back through.

Sometimes, parties would be "stuck" outside of such zones while the aggro mobs moved away from the zone line camps. Sometimes people would be outside these zones for 15-30 minutes just waiting because people would inevitably zone back in too early, people coming from inside rezoning the mobs, etc.
